No one has mentioned the hit you take when trading a vehicle with manual windows. My guess, and thats all it is , is that a dealer is gonna whine to you about manual windows and how impossible it will be sell your jeep. Pretty sure you will get hammered . Get power windows !

I prefer manual windows and locks in a 2 door, but power windows and locks in a 4 door.
Remote entry, no key to fumble with on a dark night, arms full with kids, dogs, groceries, power locks are a convenience / safety feature. Power windows for dealing with that sudden storm, ventilation for dogs.. the fact that the rear doors don't have a key lock cylinder means you have to open front door, reach in behind seat to unlock rear doors. That can be a pain if you need to access the back seat door often. Then there's Resale, power locks/ windows are more popular.
I got a big discount on my 2 Dr Sport, with LSD, hard Top , A/C because it had manual locks /windows. Just what I wanted, but apparently no one else...
Whatever you get, Enjoy !

Just bought a JL sport 2 door.... base model!

Love it! Manual windows and 6 speed manual transmission. No power nothing! Brings me back to my younger days when all was simple and vehicles were fun to drive. ...
I don't regret manual windows or locks. My only gripe is the rear door. .i wish it had an old school type lock toggle/ knob. I find it a PITA to have to use the key to lock and unlock the rear door and i often forget to lock it.

I have manual locks and windows, I don’t mind at all. That is until my girl decides to pull on the handle 18 times when it’s locked just to aggravate lol.
Solved that problem by walking to her side and unlocking and opening and closing the door for her. I look like a gentleman and save myself aggravation! Lol

Yep, unlock the wifes door and let her in then she reaches across and unlocks your door before you get there...same here!

I have a JLU sport and it can be a PITA every once in a while when I need to open the rear/back door. There is no button or release from inside the jeep. Only way to lock or unlock the back door is with the key. I guess the sport S has a button on the key fob to lock/unlock all 5 doors. There are no buttons on the base sport fob. Not worried about taking a hit when trading it in. I don't think I'll be trading it in for a long long time. Also, I do not have a problem with the crank hitting my leg and she doesn't either when in the passenger seat. If you have that problem then take the crank off and rotate it 180 degrees then put it back on and that should fix it. If you can't or don't want to then I am sure the dealer will do it for you for a slight charge

I do not regret getting the base. I would have liked the option to add a better radio and LED's though!!

I don't really mind the manual bits but power would be nice for the convenience. I can also reach all windows and locks from the driver seat, but it is a stretch.
I live in Michigan and don't like to be cold or rained on so the top and doors off season isn't really very long. I also park in my garage at night and covered parking at work where I don't really need to lock it up or put the roof panels back on anyway.
So, my next JLU will have power windows and locks and the 8.4 radio upgrade. I agree, the 5in radio leaves a lot to be desired compared to the 7 or 8.4, but I think it's going away anyway.

I have owned enough stripped down cars to know not having power windows etc absolutely sucks! And in the 20 or so cars i have owned over the past 30 years i have never had to replace a window motor. And one of those was an Eagle Talon so that is saying a lot.

Hello.

I'm considering the base model and wondered if members with the base model ended up hating the roll up windows and manual locks....especially for 4 doors. Should I just pay up for the Sport S? Interested in whether you can live with it or if you seriously regret it.

Thank you.
My wife and I first tried out the base model. I was in the camp of .... it’s a Jeep, no need for all the fancy stuff.... (my first Jeep was a half door TJ... so no power window then). However My wife didn’t like the manual windows and lock. We ended up with the S model and I am glad that we didn’t get the base model.

2 Door Sport owner here. I love the roll up windows. Wish I could have gotten up windows with power locks. It's not a pain most days, but a good grocery run and you end up fiddling with keys more than you want. Other than that it's been a pleasure esnce I go doors off most of the time - weather permitting * East Coast.

I agree with what most people say. 4 door get the power windows 2 door you'll adjust fine.

I've never locked the doors in a year and half of ownership (soft top). At first I regretted no tinted windows but I've forgotten all about it. The three back panels are removed most of the time anyways. The manual windows are easy to operate. No regrets at all.

Windows I didn't mind. Manual locks got annoying fast. See my blog post below in my signature for my power lock install.

can confirm, my jeep helped on the first date cause I walked my date over to the door and opened it for her. I joke that manual doors are the ultimate wingman option for a jeep.

Excellent feedback. Thank you all. I'm actually getting a Gladiator but asked the question here as the Wrangler and its drivers have much more history than the Gladiator....same issue though. I think I'm going with the Sport S...mostly for the power locks issue.

Cheers!
