As a 2dr owner having manual windows doesn't bother me at all since the other door is within arms reach and I would assume with a 4 door any passengers in the back that roll the windows down would roll them back up when exiting

The power locks I miss more but I only lock the doors purposely on rare occasions now rather than on impulse every time as I'm walking away. You just learn not to leave anything valuable inside unlocked. The upside is I leave my harness disconnected and my hingebolts out so one bolt for the door catch out and I'm doorless quickly. The downside is this also leaves the domelight and footlights unhooked so it's dark inside when you open your doors.

All in all it doesn't bother me too much where I regret getting the sport just for the sake of having them. If you love everything else about your Jeep you won't mind it at all.
That gigantic, useless key fob....now that's another story

This is my first vehicle to have roll up windows and I thought it would be a lot more of a problem than it is. I don't have my doors off as much as I would like but if I had to go back I don't think I would have paid the extra for Sport S. Also I never leave anything in the Jeep so the manual locks aren't a problem. Twice I have had people rummage through it at night but the most they stole was a free pair of sunglasses so no biggie.
I can do one better. I had people cut my old soft top to get in, realized there was nothing to steal, then leave THEIR sunglasses on the floor...

I had my JK UX for several years with no power locks or windows and here are my thoughts:

Soft Top: If you plan to never have a hard top, then don't bother with power locks or windows - my JK had a soft top so I never locked it, no need for power locks, and since it wasn't locked no need to roll up the windows when parked. There were a few times I would have like to have power windows just to be able to roll down and up on the fly, but overall they didn't bother me.

Hard Top: With the hard top on it's really nice having the power locks. And I do like being able to roll my windows down/up on the fly,

Had a jku, a TJ and now have a JLU, CJ6 and a 04 Rubicon. All running soft tops but only the jku had power locks and windows. All the others didn't.

I agree with a soft top, power locks are not really needed. For security I have the tuffy deck enclosure. Lock the tailgate and you are good. As with any convertible, the top is worth more then anything in it.

In hindsight the things I would add to the base model is half doors, upgraded sound system and a limited slip rear end.

Went from a loaded f150, to a bare bones sport. Don't regret it at all. Don't miss any of it.

I had a 2016 JLUW with manual door locks and windows. I had a baby at the time and it was a pain. I no longer have the wrangler, but if I did, it would still be a pain because of his age. With that being said, I plan on buying a new wrangler in a few years and I will get one with manual door locks and windows.

Hello.

I'm considering the base model and wondered if members with the base model ended up hating the roll up windows and manual locks....especially for 4 doors. Should I just pay up for the Sport S? Interested in whether you can live with it or if you seriously regret it.

Thank you.
I too was planning on buying the base model, until I took a test drive. The problem for me was the roll up handle for the driver side window kept hitting my left knee as I drove. I realized in short order it would drive me crazy. So we went with the Sport S and all is fine. Good luck with whichever you choose.

Best,
-Tim

I regret not getting power locks every day i get into and out of the jeep! Especially when people ride with me. They NEVER lock the doors. Its become a habit of saying "lock it" every time i get out with other people in the jeep. Drives me nuts! the manual windows i can live with.

I totally agree with this statement. The door handle did drive me nuts on my JK. My JLR has power windows, so I don’t know if this is a same issue on a JL, but I bet it probably is.

So what does your keyfob look like if it doesn't have lock and unlock? Just a giant panic button?
Not even a panic button. You get the same size fob with just a key for the doors and the rfid for the tip-start.

I have a 2 door Sport. Windows are not an issue for me, but I do want the power locks. It is inconvenient and a safety issue having to use the key for the doors and there is no way to open the tailgate from inside as you would a car trunk. Maybe it is different with a 4 door.
