Very good point ; very understandable .Backup cameras are more of a safety device concerning backing over a child etc., than to prevent you from denting that Maserati behind you.

Jeep just sat for an hour in a parking lot... Came back and it's now working again.Happened to me at my first 260 miles this morning. Radio also won't turn off unless jeep is off. Have shut it down a couple of times but still not working. I haven't let it sit for long yet. Just getting gas now.
I have also had the no backup cam issue. The only time this has happened to me is when I admittedly was in a big rush.I started the jeep and within a matter of seconds slammed it in to reverse and left. Then after a while the backup cam wouldn't come back on and I could turn the radio off at all. Parked the jeep, came back about 30 minutes later and the issue was gone.

I recently reported my issue to themWhy aren't people reporting these to NHTSA when they occur? The backup camera is a federally mandated safety feature as of May 2018 and it's failing.
Lawyers are likely salivating for the first crash or injury to result given all the proof here that there were issues that FCA knew about but didn't issue a recall for, and I've literally never seen a backup camera issue in any other vehicle I've ever driven.
My wife is getting aggravated at her backup camera as well. You never know when it will work or when it won't.This is not a connection issue as I have checked! This happens to my wife atleast once a day and the only way to get it to work again is to stop moving shut the vehicle off and open the door so the system reboots. Then upon restarting the camera works! This gets very interesting for her when in tight parking lots and people are up your butt trying to get into your spot and you need to stop shut jeep down open door and restart! This is now becoming a safety issue.
Typical Jeep answer : nothing can be done . Actual rational answer : all computers are stupid junk .Hey Darlene,
I have already worked with Jeep and at this point we determined there is nothing that can be done. We decided i would wait for all my issues to be resolved hopefully by the software update that is coming out in a few months. They even said there is no way to factory reset these units like the other ones have.
. There is plenty that can be done! How many units have this issue? This isnāt the space shuttle so FCA should have A. Checked connections B. Changed out the camera C. Change the dash unit. This once again is a serious safety issue and owners who let dealers convince them that there is nothing that can be done are doing a disservice to themselves and others by being complacent on this matter. Itās time for FCA to start changing parts if there techs arenāt savy enough to isolate the problem!!Hey Darlene,
