I think it means that a computer update was installed.

finally was able to bring the jeep in for the camera not working after being falsely told that they were waiting on a software update fix. Around a month and a half of time has passed so far

First trip was told the camera had to be replaced to had to order it, pick up jeep again and wait a week for part to come in

Brought it back and now told the camera didn't fix it and that the whole wiring harness from the rear has to be replaced

So the fun begins with taking apart all the trim and possibly dash on a brand new vehicle, already have broken clips and loose panels on the passenger side door sill plastics i'm sure will take even more time to order and get replaced
I was also told they flashed or updated software as well

@JeepCares I'm more curious why you want to respond to private messages only. It's as if you would rather hush us quietly in our own private room rather than dealing with the REAL issue in front of all of us that are having the SAME issue!!!! Each case is NOT different so I don't want to hear that. We all have radio/camera problems. How about you all come up with a fix for this and be done with it. We have already isolated the problem for you, you know what the issue is.
Command Line RC,

I would love to provide clarification for you. Once in a private message, we ask for your VIN to identify your file in our systems, followed by your phone number, earliest/latest preferred call time, your dealer, email address, and in some cases, personal home address. To respect your privacy and personal information, we conduct these conversations through private message. We do not advise posting that information publicly.

Add me to the growing list of frustrated JL owners. The backup camera quit last week and it took nearly a week for a service appointment. They called and stated the problem was fixed and I drove it exactly TWO DAYS before it went out again! This vehicle has 800 miles on it. I haven't even made my first payment and it's going in for the second time.

This happened to me yesterday. Second day of owning the JLU and my wife was the passenger on the highway and put the rear camera on during traffic and when we reached our destination the backup camera no longer worked.

When we put it in reverse or just select the camera from the menu we see a black screen with an ā€œxā€ in the corner. Will check today if it solved itself but this system is bugging and that stinks for a 2 day old car I spent $44k on.

Thank you it seemed to solve itself after a day. Now just going to get the steering checked for a piece of mind for my wife and I. Overall itā€™s an awesome car.

Happened to me as well this morning...

With great features comes great problems!!! Exactly What I was worried of after switching my 14 JKUR to 18 JLUR.

but after reading this post I figured each one is having a different issue.... blue screen, black screen, gray screen and mine which when I put in reverse nothing happens as the car does not have a camera. also when try the back up app that doesn't do anything.

by being in tech field I can assure that this is not a hardware issue and is defiantly a software issue but it's a shame that after all wait on JL we are experiencing minor issues that should've been fixed before mass production.

What I hate is the service at the dealers which takes forever for them to NOT fix the problem permanently!!! Hope FCA can get on these issues before Iconic brand becomes ruined!

After three trips to get it figured out, they finally replaced the entire rear wire harness and it is fixed.

Replacing the harness required the entire interior to be taken out, all trim, seats, carpet, sound bar, safety devices on seats and seat belts, tail lights and whatever other sensors it is connected to underneath the rear of the vehicle

The dealer and tech that were working on it did a great job, after the initial visit to diagnose it I found some broken clips and rubber straps for the door wiring covers were broken and asked them to replace them, which they did.

I did find what I thought to be wires that were forgot to be plugged in hanging from driver side dash, but after some research found out it looks like they replaced the wire harness with one that is for a hard top or dual top one which mine did not have, so the rear defrost and rear washer line were hanging out there, and some other new rattles that some foam fixed.

I also had some concerns of long term effects of having all of this taken apart and reinstalled but Jeep corporate has been extremely helpful and given me trust in my Jeep back

Other than this issue, it has been a great Jeep, coming from a 97 4 TJ, a 2011 JKR, and finally a practical 4 door JLU

My backup camera stopped working yesterday. When I clicked on the backup camera options in settings, it just blinked. I checked the fuses. Found several fuses and relays that were super loose. After pressing them down, I could feel 25% of them "seat" in better. The backup camera is now working. So this would be a good thing to check just in case since it is simple and easy to do. It might fix other problems too. Plus it is good to familiarize yourself with the fuses in case you need to replace one. The fuse labels are under the fuse box cover.

Sad to say, Iā€™m joining the club of backup camera not working on a new 2018 Rubicon Unlimited JL. Tried a few of the tricks and tips, but no luck.

I just joined the blank 7 inch screen club. My local dealer did a great job of fixing a fairly major engine problem but I think that may have just been luck. I know at Ford dealers electrical gremlins are hit and miss.
