I have not posted on this forum for months. I now have over 20,000 miles on my JL 2 DR Rubicon. This ONLY relates to myself and my experience after owning the vehicle for a year now. Not sure if this more to do with the design or if I have just gotten use to how it drives, but I can honestly say...
I'll let the mechanically inclined answer that one. All I know is it "seems" to drive better when the outside temp is cooler guess will have to wait till June or so to confirm
Hello All, I have not posted on the forum for a few weeks. Was trying to "observe" the steering issue with my Jeep. The temperature here has been cooler lately and my Jeep steers MUCH better when the outside temp is below 80 degrees! I have a 250 mile road trip coming up next week so this will...
It is FCA's problem. Too a point I feel bad for the dealers having to try to come up with something out of their asses! We are up to 99 steering complaints on the NHTSA website 100 might be the magic number!
This morning the outside temp was less than 75 degrees (no steering issue) when I go home will be 90 plus and bet the steering will suck just like yesterday. Not sure what this means. I love this Jeep much better than the JK and just want it to "feel" right whil
BLUF: THEY NEED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT OR KILLED! TOTAL BS!! I have owned a TJ, YJ and JK NONE OF THEM DROVE LIKE THIS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS@
Correct driving yesterday on a 100 mile road trip seems as if you have to try to keep "steering" right to stay in lane more at hotter temps in the morning I can at times use one hand and feel like I am not constantly correcting to stay in lane! This is my 4th Wrangler and have NEVER noticed...
Just the other day I was thinking how much better the steering is when I go to work as opposed to going home when it is hotter! Might have something there/here?
Have the premium soft top and have experienced heavy downpours with NO leaking. Only the downpour when you open the door from the channel this is my 4th Wrangler so kind of use to it.
Yes so am I and very sorry you are experiencing this a definite safety issue. Like I said kind of sad you have to crawl under a vehicle to check the welds! I think "they" were in too much of a hurry to meet the demand of a new model and the quality department suffered. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND HOPE...
i picked mine up 16 July and have around 2,000 miles on it now I just like you I notice it is driving a "little" better not sure how or why either something "happens" when you put more miles on it or you get use to it? I am going to start to pay more attention as I continue the mileage climb...
Thanks WXman. In the beginning the "sound" worried me. Then after putting a few miles on it I determined it was how the transmission shifts was just not use to it does not bother me any longer just on steep declines when I just coast.
Sorry to hear people are having these issues the last thing I was thinking of doing is crawling under my brand new vehicle to check the welds! But I did (thanks to this forum)morning mine are ok now if the steering would just improve!
Not sure what a bolt is? Maybe he meant a TSB Technical Service Bulletin. I think some dealers will not do the flash unless your VIN is included in the TSB and I think some will. I was going to bring mine in also built in July but I am going to wait till my first oil change to see if it improves...
You know what though I traded in that 2007JK with 225,000 miles on it for the 2018 JL. The engine was leaking a little and I might have had trouble passing this NY emissions test I fooled the emissions testing for 4 years by erasing the codes but eventually had to get a new CAT but it served my...
Just checked see attached. Does not tell you the total for this particular issue.

Not sure how many it actually takes to cause a STIR? I do know (as mentioned before) that in 2007 quite a few of us filed a complaint about the 2007 JK completely shutting down while driving. Jeep finally did a recall (all it took was a flash of the PCM) not sure how that happened though
Smart move may do the same thing get an independent go over might be worth the cost as opposed to the standard "cannot duplicate the issue" or "its a jeep thing"
