My Off Road Pages -> Vehicle Dynamics -> Altitude is always wrong! Here it shows -111 ft. I live in coastal South Carolina (not Death Valley!) and we are at sea level. Sometimes at home it will show -140 ft. I've never seen it go much higher than -45. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

First World problems. ;) LOL
Reset button? No. Take it in. Maybe Jeep will give you a new Jeep.
I have never even looked at elevation in 4+ years. Inclinometer and gauges in Offroad pages, yes.

OP, I'm only messy with you. If you find it an issue, have the dealership look at it. Jeeps are too expensive out of the box. You should be happy for the money you've spent.

Well there's your problem... You bought the wrong screen!

Jeep Wrangler JL Altitude Always Wrong IMG_20231203_081609796_HDR

5" screen doesn't have those problems, or the useless information which does nothing to improve you vehicles driveability.

Joke's aside, that really is useless information honestly. I mean if you know what state you're in, you know roughly what your elevation is. Unless you're driving around in the Tetons or the Rockies and all of the elevation signs on every single road magically got removed... Oh wait it still won't affect your engine enough that you won't be able to drive back home. ? ;)

I think this is one of the perfect examples of technology being bad. Providing you useless information, so that when it breaks, now you need to fix it. Whereas if they just didn't provide you with the useless information to begin with, there would be nothing to break.

Sorry not to knock your problem, but like others said, dealership can reset it for you. Hopefully that helps and it's not some internal gyroscope that's all wonky and needs to be replaced.

Maybe you're thinking that crossing the tree line is close enough accuracy for someone to guess their attitude?

Tredsdert: "We crossed the tree line two hours ago and I've been mentally calculating our rate of climb, so we're at 12,374 feet!"

not sure if there is a way to do an OTA update on the uconnect? that seems to have fixed some bugs with others. or to do a USB transfer update (uconnect used to allow that). assuming gps coordinates are correct (that looks like a nice area!) the altitude would hopefully be determined from location rather than trying to use something like barometric pressure.

those gps coords should give an altitude of like 10' above sea level? does it change while driving, as compared to being parked?

Let's be honest here, after 20 years of driving, I've never needed a in-vehicle altimeter. That's what they have signs on the road for...

Maybe the problem is that nowadays people want to have everything at their fingertips, even if they don't need it. ?‍♂

If you find a way to calibrate it this Android app may help. "GPS test." They say accurate to 12' depending on phone type. Yes, I'm at 5K elevation.

I have 2 2023 Jeep products; Rubicon and Grand Cherokee Summit both with Uconnect 5. The Rubicon altitude readouts are pretty accurate but the Grand Cherokee is way off always showing below sea level readings...??

About the only "Off-roading" I ever do is taking the Jeep on the beach. My guess is about 6 feet above sea level but the Jeep always reads 45-50 feet. I don't know why it irks me but it does. No plans to do anything about it.

But, of course, we do need it! Hell, when I drive to the back of our property it's useful to know the altitude there versus at our house. I've climbed the hill a couple times and I'm obviously old AF, but it's useful to know how far up it is.
