How many hours of labor should I expect to pay for to have a TeraFlex adjustable trackbar installed on my 2020 JLU? Cost will vary based on shop rates but I'm curious on how many hours the installation, adjustment/axle centering I should expect.

an hour really, two at most, if theyre trying to milk it. i just installed front and rear myself.
*i have metal cloak, which requires some grinding for the front track bar. i think every other TB in the world fits no problem lol. the grinding did add about 30 minutes to my install.

if you have basic hand tools, do it yourself. you can do it in a parking lot. check if your axle is off-center right now. if its not, or super close, just put the track bar in where it fits. slap red locktite on the jam nut threads and crank the hell out of the jam nut with a big adjustable wrench.

if you need to adjust the axle, you can have a friend push on the vehicle while you try to line it up or use ratchet straps to move it.

there's plenty of information/videos online how to do this. dont spend hundreds paying a shop if you can possibly do it yourself. also maybe hit up the local jeep community if someone can help. for an experienced jeeper, its a piece of cake and jeepers tend to help each other.

Yes, an hour for anyone that knows what they're doing and has the tools close by.
There's 2 bolts to fit it, one at each end, then adjust to centre and lock it off.

Hmmm, my quote was $400 which was a bit surprising (about 2.5 hours). Since the part alone is a little above $350, that was just for labor. But since I have not had one installed before, I have no baseline in which to compare. That is starting to sound higher than it should be.

do not pay anyone to install a track bar..super easy.
Ha, I spent three hours removing and installing a cat back exhaust on Saturday. I was on my back and the damn exhaust hanger tool I bought was not working well. None the less, complications tend to find me and this job would not be an exception. I don't mind paying, just want to know if I'm being highballed.

I installed a front Rock Krawler track bar that required some persuasion of mounting points with various tools and profanity since the joint was wider than OEM. The rear Rock Krawler track bar dropped right in. I would say up to 2 hours for the front unless they charge In half hour increments then up to 1.5. For the rear I would say 1 hour. The cost should include having you come back after x miles to recheck torque at no additional charge.

@Roky can give you a well informed answer

Whether you do it yourself or you have a shop do it, make sure the collar bolts are tightened properly. You have to go back and forth several times to get them both to 60 ft-lb. The first time I installed one of these I did it wrong, thankfully I caught it before the thing was ruined.

I have installed cat backs and I assure you installing the front track bar is 20X easier...

After watching TeraFlex's installation video, this does seem pretty straight forward with little room for complications. WTH, I'll give it a try. Being meant to be installed with the vehicle on the ground (level of course) is good.

As for centering the axle, what is the acceptable tolerance? 1/8", less, slightly more?

Takes me 30 minutes to R&R a track bar, and I’m not fast…..If a shop is charging you anything more than an hour, they’re crooks, find another shop, or do it yourself, it’s easier than your exhaust install…..

1/8" is really good....visually i doubt most people can see 1/4" difference. measure your side to side difference and take 1/2 of that number to set your track bar too and go from there. go for a short drive come back measure again and adjust accordingly.
