  1. Let the chatter begin..... 3.0L Hurricane I6 Engine

For the addition of 2 extra cylinders on a 2.0 the whole jeep got a lot more expensive.
  2. Amazing! You can still buy a new 1941 Willys

That video is making me feel nostalgic for the good old days... A press shop where nobody wears ear defenders, safety glasses, toecap boots or arm gauntlets. The only only thing that spoiled it was the couple of guys wearing gloves to handle parts. ;) The MIG welder wearing just a t-shirt made...
  3. Youtube video of 4XE blowing it's roof off.

Sky One Touch roof seems a better option. Takes longer to open, but easier to close and a bit more predictable.
  4. Is this normal on all frames?

The indentations on the frame are a manufacturing feature. They set the 'depth' of seam overlap on the stamped rails or crossmembers. One part is pushed into the other until it hits the indents, then it can't go further. The assembly is clamped in that condition for welding. The indents will...
  5. Jeep's Autonomous Off-Road Driving Tech Testing at Moab

This technology is to fix a problem that hasn't happened yet. Today many drivers can't drive a manual transmission, they never have and never will. In the future it will be normal to tell your car where to go, and it will autonomously deliver the 'driver' (passenger) to their destination. A...
  6. Dealer sent a piece of mail asking to buy my '22 Willys

This reminds me of the Volvo salesman that called me 2 months before the finance was due to be paid off, Him. I can save you money. Me. I don’t believe you can. Him. I can upgrade your car and reduce the monthly payment. Me. But in 3 month's time that will have cost me more, you haven't...
  7. Muddin' in the Tropics - Lessons Learned

What it does show is the benefit of having bigger tires than the vehicles that drove there before you. They made the ruts and shaped the terrain for everyone that has to follow. If everyone else had 40" tires the ruts would be dug out to the axle clearance on those vehicles. It would be...
  8. Anyone else kinda miffed that there's no hybrid Wrangler?

"I want a hybrid with less battery range AND less engine power than the current model" Said no one ever, until today...;) That's progress for you.
  9. Landrover is no more, brand name dropped!

What a great way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the company, by dropping the name. Landrover Defender is now to be just called 'Defender' https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/jaguar-land-rover-rebrands-jlr-company-image-shift Keep on Jeep'n everyone! :jk: :like:
  10. Newbie question - SUNPIE

Sounds like an unknown Chinese company, using a French address as a front? Company Name:Nova Silk Road Sarl Company Address:C/o Regus 81 Rue de France 06000 Nice Scammers!! https://www.scampulse.com/nova-silk-road-sarl-reviews
  11. Missing woman found alive in Jeep submerged in Texas lake for 2 days

*sorry in advance* If it weren't for the 4" lift and 37s it could have been so much worse.
  12. Missing woman found alive in Jeep submerged in Texas lake for 2 days

There's a big difference between 'submerged' and 'almost submerged'. Guess which makes a better news headline. Agree it's an odd story.
  13. Jeep Wrangler Recall For Fire Risk: 57,885 vehicles from 2020-2023 model years (unnecessary frame stud installed)

Hmm, if these studs were fitted in error, then there wouldn't have been 58,000 studs available in the plant to fit during the assembly.... The build schedule and MRP ordering system wouldn't have requested the studs. If 58,000 studs had been fitted in error, from another location, then someone...
  14. Whither a JL?

A GC Trailhawk is a perfectly capable vehicle for Overland trips and moderate trails. Misuse or abuse of any vehicle will cause damage. (I've done it!) More experience with driving your vehicle, learning it's capabilities and limitations, and perhaps revised expectations, will reduce the...
  15. Diesel Rubicon Sucks in Snow

Just my observations from the earlier photos. The snow appears to be entering at both front corners of the hood, above the headlights, then is being carried and deposited further back in the engine bay. The seal on the top edge of the grill stops above the lights and doesn’t run round the corner...
  16. The Headrest Safe for Jeep JL Wrangler is cool ☘️

"The user shall determine the suitability to use the headrest safe and assumes all risk and liability whatsoever" So it's entirely up to you if you want to use it... they're not saying it's suitable for use as a headrestraint. :(
  17. The Headrest Safe for Jeep JL Wrangler is cool ☘️

I'd rather hit my head on a purpose designed headrest than a lightly padded steel safe. Ask to see the crash test results, particularly the head deceleration and rebound forces, in direct comparison to the standard headrest. If they can't or won't give them, then assume it's not a safe product.
  18. Off-road rant

It sounds like you need to find a new club, organise your own event with friends, or go alone. Leave those other people to do what they want in their own time.:like:
  19. Can I sit on the crossbar?

Maybe some camping chairs would do? Sitting on top of the Jeep only gets you 4 feet closer to the stars, or anything else, in the sky. ;)
