I had no clue how to do this when I started.
I got some help from the guys on this thread, https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/diy-switch-pod-for-jl-wranglers.37928/,
Watched some YouTube videos

And

And did some research on Google.

You can just buy one of those spods for $200 and up but I learned a lot by setting it up by myself.

I drew up a diagram to get an idea of how to set it up.

I switched out the blue wire for red just like in the YouTube video for the relay.

I hope this helps. There's more than one way to do things so feel free to change it up or buy other/cheaper parts.

I bought a heat gun from harbor freight and rotary tool kit or use a Dremel if you already have it.

Screenshot_20191011-000812_Chrome.jpg

Used these items to cut and shape out the plastic, and heat gun to bend it to shape.

I copied the shape of the cubby onto the plastic with a sharpie. I didn't want to put any screws where the switches are for that face plate so I used a glue gun.

Run the wires through the passenger grommet. It's a pain so I cut a slit on the outer layer. I left one wire to pull wire through if necessary in the future. Don't want to fish that through again.

I hope this makes sense but it's after midnight and I'm sleepy. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to help.
awesome write up, thank you for taking the time to put this together.

@Mike630 i had a little bit with mine (rigid cowl mount mounts them close to the top of the hood and sides) but nothing that blinded me or made feel like it bothered my vision. I think sun glare is much worse. Not sure if color matters but I feel like it’s probably amplified by white (I have a white JLUR)

Got mine wired up and installed, just have to install the switches and wire them up, but it’s all live and ready to go otherwise...

I see this and I think spirit fingers.

On a serious note though, can some of you post up what your view looks like at night from the drivers seat? I'm curious to see how much reflection y'all get.

I’m with you the spirit fingers...what it lacks in style it makes up for in functionality - I can still drop the windshield.
I’ll try to get out tonight to get a picture.

I just got rid of my JK that was equipped with KC Daylights on A Pillar Mounts. Those lights cost me @ $260 if I recall. For my new JL Rubi, I decided to go with Go Rhino A Pillar Mounts and while I was at Harbour Freight getting a few items I came across these pods. I have 2 spots and 2 fogs and I must say they are every bit as good as the KC's were. I can't speak to longevity but light output is impressive. At $25/pod I figured I couldn't go wrong. The packaging indicates they are CREE LEDs and that along with the water proof connections and rather sturdy housing and mounts convinced me to drop the $100 on them. I made up my own wiring loom and utilized the Aux 3 and 4 switch connections next to the battery.

I also bought these HF lights this past weekend - sort of an impulse buy but figured I could return if I read reviews later that sucked - but reviews seem good. They seem as solid as my Inspired Engineering cubes I put in my bumper. Glad to see your install went well and you are happy with the results.

I also bought the HF wiring harness (no idea if this will be used) and ordered some hood mounts online. Looking forward to getting these installed.

If it helps I also ordered these covers below and will update if they fit properly. Hope so as they also had an amber lens cover for the same $7.99 available which might be nice to have.

Any follow up on the HF lights? I have the go rhino mounts and may pick up a pair of the floods and spots next time I am by there.

I just installed 2 of the floods on my front bumper, they put out a lot of light... May go back and pick up 2 more spots & 2 more floods to replace my A-Pillar lights...

I don't seem to get any from inside the jeep, could just be my setup though? I have the floods pointing at about a 25 degree angle to the sides, my spots point straight forward.
