Often wondered (a lot less these days) why Jeep could/did not build a V6 that delivered 335HP and 400+ TQ...would have been another brainer when they had access to MB.

You are correct, they do mostly reach the same operating temp. The reason for the thinner oil is for the period between the start and reaching operating temp.
??? 0W-20 vs. 0W-30. Which is better at starting temperatures?

Hey does it make the fan come on when you're doing 75 mph and your oil temperature gets to 215? Sometimes my stupid oil temperature gets very high even when I'm at freeway speeds 🤔🫣
Oil temp 215? In my ecodiesel, 215 is pretty much a normal goin' down the road at 65 temp.

Technically both are 0 at cold temperatures, so both should be same. But more to it than that

So sure the 2.0 and 3.6 have different part numbers on rocker parts, but same type design, same material used? Is there a 2.0 valvtrain issue?

Ok I know where you are going, i think it is a long shot to say the w30 in the 2.0 is what keep it from having cam / rockers issues

Absolutely, but if they are the same type of design, and different part numbers, then probably different manufacturing, so the part is most likely what's wrong, not the oil. BUT, changing oil very early at 3000 miles might help.

Looking at that oil viscosity chart, I could use straight 30wt, and cover my temp spectrum.

Obviously since the 70's when 50wt was the thing for high temps, oil has significantly changed. I found this:

Multigrade oils are formulated by adding a very long chain hydrocarbon polymer, which tends to remain relatively balled up at lower temperatures so it doesn't change the oils inherent viscosity very much. But it changes how viscosity responds to temperature. As it warms up, the individual polymer molecules stretch out and uncoil due to entropic effects. When they are extended, they interfere more with the movement of the oil molecules, so the viscosity doesn’t drop as much with temperature.

Hence, why a modern 20 weight oil can take 238F, if only for a short time.

If there is, it doesn't come close to registering as such on the site, not when compared to the recurrent tales of woe with the Pentastar's valvetrain.

True, best I can find, 15 million 3.6 in jeeps, maybe 250,000 2.0 since 2018. AI can't find a 2.0 number other than the quarter mil since 2018. So if we have 60 people come on here with valve problems, you would expect only 1 2.0 problem.

Mm. I had wondered about the comparative take rate for the two engines, guessing correctly that the V6 would be well in the lead.

I also wonder what an emission-complaint 4.0L inline six would look like today, and more importantly, what its reliability trend would appear like. Said differently, how much of its original DNA would it be allowed, or able, to retain?

Wait, so $123 total or $20.50 per QT? Seriously??

There is NO way I'm paying that for an oil that has ZERO approvals or specifications.

Given your propensity to fall into paralysis by analysis, I am floored that you are...

Good luck!
They show Aluminum in the datasheet. Why?

most likely in how the oil was stored or mixed or transported ie might use aluminum vats or pipes it could have come from the other additives ie maybe they came in contact with minute parts of aluminum..multitude of reasons..try asking the oil manufacturer..

I will shoot them an email, in the meanwhile I found this. Looks like it comes from the anti-wear additive packages that they use in the oil
