Manufacturers don't want cars that last forever. It's a cumulative liability and the makers don't make money from a 20 year old fleet. Your JK, TJ, CJ etc, is a liability to them
The light aircraft industry almost died from all the airplanes that were still flying many decades after they were made. Light aircraft, although built like a tin can, are rebuilt and repaired, crutched up and kept in service forever. People were suing the pants off of makers like Cessna, Beechcraft, and Piper for airplane crashes and issues on planes built 30, 40, 50, 60 years ago. The US government had to pass legislation that limited liability General Aviation Revitalization Act - Wikipedia
