After doing several modifications over the last several months to my 392, I decided to see what it weighs now....Took it to the local rock supply place that has a truck scale. So, with a full tank of gas and me in the seat (190) it came out to 7,100 pounds....holly cow!! My basic list of add-on is: MC full skids + muffler skid, MC 3 1/2" game changer lift, Fox 2.5 DSC shocks, 37" STT Pro tires w/spare, Vision Nemesis 17" wheels, RSE Gen 3 steps with additional skids, Hyline rear bumper, Warn EV 10S winch, and probably 200Lbs of misc stuff. Curious....what are other folks getting for after mod weights?

I will have to weigh mine once my second round of upgrades is completed. Question for you. I agree in general keeping weight down is a good thing, especially more fun on the skinny pedal, but persoanlly for you, what's your advantage for keeping wieght down? Center of gravity? Rock crawling?

I'm not sure about the OP, but for me that much weight would be a concern from the perspective of the implications of on-road handling and, of course, being able to stop.

I seriously doubt that I would have been able to stop in time last October when my Jeep was totaled. I stopped in time and the vehicle two behind me did not. They were charged. If my JLUR weighed 7k lbs I would most likely have been the one charged with causing an accident and being at fault for at least three of the wrecked vehicles (mine plus the two in front).

Not to hijack the thread, but what happened such that charges were brought following a motor vehicle accident?

I have Fox 2.5 DSC shocks that seem to have a problem with re-bound when rock crawling. I can't seem to adjust the movement out with the low and high speed adjustment knobs. Accutune asked me for vehicle weight....that's what started this whole adventure.

Got it. So you’re sending them off?

List the weight of each modification, and take a picture of your door jam sticker showing the GVWR payload etc. From there you should be able to determine if it's way off or not. A base 392 curb weight should be close to 5100. But with you in it and full on gas, not sure.

While it's possible that you added that much weight, it does feel a bit high.

Charged, as in they we found to be at fault. Three of the other four parties had no tickets given. I'm guessing that the vehicle in front of me was also ticketed, but I'm not positive about that.

Got it. In my neck of the woods that means criminal charges. We don't say charged for civil liability.

Your weight seems a little high. I would take it to a truck stop, with scales. They are checked and calibrated regularly.

In my plans, the closest one is about 50 miles away...

The 392 is a powerful Ride. But additional weight still reduces power, more wear and tear on power train, steering, suspension, increased braking distance, higher engine cooling temperatures, cost more at the gas pump, and I am sure that I am missing something, but it is your call..
