You didn't say all that in the previous commentJL frame, motor mounts, and trans combos are different though. Very likely the engine isn't mounted the same height above the suspension in the JK as the JL.

None of those links actually confirm that it was done for the 5lb weight reduction, unless I've missed somewhere that's explicitly statedthe real reason the JL has only 5 qts 5lbs of weight savings......

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 in the JL Wrangler holds 5 quarts of oil (including the filter), whereas the older JK held 6 quarts. This reduction was primarily a weight-saving measure implemented when Jeep transitioned to the "Pentastar Upgrade" engine. [1, 2, 3, 5]
Here is the breakdown of why the capacity changed:
- Redesigned Oil Pan: The JL's updated Pentastar engine replaced the older two-piece oil pan with a redesigned, single-piece pan. This physically reduced the size of the oil sump to save approximately 5 pounds of weight.
- Slower Drainback Rate: The upgraded engine features components like an EGR cooler and variable valve lift systems, which result in a slower oil drain-back time than the older JK engines.

Yeah, I'm sure Jeep loves customers paying $50k+ for an engine that's "fine" or "good enough"This is irrelevant lol.
My 97 4Runner had 185 horsepower out of a v6 and was 4000lbs and was fine.
Adjusted for inflation my 4Runner would cost 52k in today’s dollarsYeah, I'm sure Jeep loves customers paying $50k+ for an engine that's "fine" or "good enough"
Heaven-forbid people actually have choices. An extra 100HP/TQ isn't asking for crazy muscle car performance, just the bare minimum of what a heavy, expensive vehicle with a tow package should offer. Having only 2 boring sub-300HP options and a few 392s at the top is just silly imo, but I'm happy if that's "adequate" and meets your wants/needs.
It's not even about getting the most power. It's about the fact that the competition offers more power, better efficiency, better quality, and is in many cases CHEAPER too. Meanwhile we're stuck here with two totally different, equally poorly built, motors that do roughly the same job. And we occupy our time debating which one is better. We're the competitors in the special olympics.Yeah, I'm sure Jeep loves customers paying $50k+ for an engine that's "fine" or "good enough"

Absolute BS. EVERYBODY gives a fuck except for the apologists on this site. Price doesn't have to equal HP, but people are damn sure comparing prices between vehicles, and when the competition is cheaper and offers more power, CEOs get fired.Adjusted for inflation my 4Runner would cost 52k in today’s dollars
They sold a shit ton of them
So yeah, nobody really gives a fuck except you. Price doesn’t equal HP. Never has. Never will.
This is the thread for you then: I'm not a Jeep guyYou know what no one gives a fuck about? The ability to park with a front tire on a rock. No one cares.
The intake manifold is different to help low-end torque.I have a 2018 Jeep 3.6 auto and a 2018 Ram 1500 work truck with 3.6 auto…. My question is how and why is the Ram 3.6 quieter and more horsepower than the 3.6 in my jeep ? Also, why couldn’t they put the 300 hp ram 3.6 in the jeep ? Oh, to add to my confusion, the ram takes 6 quarts and Jeep takes 5….@alphawolff it sounds like you work for Jeep, maybe you can way in here? …thanks….
And yet you still bought a jeep. Sucker born every minute i guess lmao. Marketing is a bitch, ain’t it?It's not even about getting the most power. LOL no it's not. You don't get to define what a "Jeep guy" is.This is the thread for you then: I'm not a Jeep guy| Jeep Wrangler Forums (JL / JLU) -- Rubicon, 4xe, 392, Sahara, Sport - JLwranglerforums.com
Sure I doLOL no it's not. You don't get to define what a "Jeep guy" is.
No, not at all. I just live in the real world and not a Wrangler centric wet-dream.And yet you still bought a jeep. Sucker born every minute i guess lmao. Marketing is a bitch, ain’t it?
Says the guy thats thrown a bunch of money at a wrangler and posts on a wrangler forum ......No, not at all. I just live in the real world and not a Wrangler centric wet-dream.
