Perhaps. Is the lawnmower sound when it is running on fuel only an xe thing?
Yes, without the xe it sounds like a sewing machine + vacuum

If you do not think the correct answer is the 392 then you have not been paying attention to the other 3183 threads asking the same question.
Wrong

It's only available in school buses and not Jeeps

Engine sound isnt a factor in reliability
Not to mention - lawn mower engines can take some absolute NEGLECT and keep on ticking

This comes up often in the Ram 1500 discussions on 5.7 Hemi or 3.0 Hurricane.

#1 answer is they don't want the Hurricane because the 5.7 sounds better and not like a hair dryer.

Meanwhile the Toyota Tundra answer to this is to play masculine engine sounds on the radio while you're accelerating. Brilliant!

Clearly the 2.0 so I can make turbo noises at old people to scare them with newfangled technology
Old fart ain’t scared of no newfangled 4 banger turbo tech. 😁

In Jeeps I have had:

4.0L
3.8L
3.6L
3.6L eTorque
2.0L 4xe
1.3L
2.4L

So far the two most reliable were the 4.0L and, believe it or not, the 3.8L (both over 200K miles with zero issues). Next in line would be the 3.6L eTorque.
I have two Tj's and the 4.0 is great (as long as you aren't trying to win a drag race).

That's been my take away regarding 3.6 vs. 3.8. The 3.6 has more HP, but also more problems. Whereas the 3.8 is more reliable and easier to repair, closer to the 4.0.

I had the 3.6 in my 2012 JKU. Really no complaints, but only had it for a few years.

I've had:

4.0 ('01 XJ, 5 or 6 years?)
3.6 ('12 JK, 10 years)
3.2 ('21 KL, 2 or 3 years)
2.0 ('22 JL, 4 years)
3.6 ('24 JT, 2 years)

My 4.0 wasn't horribly reliable for me. I had the infamous '00-'01 head casting flaw and required a new head like 6 months after I got it. Even after replacement, it had a super touchy cooling system and would run warm in the summer.

3.6 in the JK I had no real issues with, expected to end up with the early year head or cam issues, but didn't. Did have a cam phaser go out at 77k mi and an oil pump solenoid at ~99k mi, but that one could have been due to just a loose ground.

The 3.2 in the KL was fine, barely broke 30k mi, zero issues.

2.0 doesn't have many miles on it, about 15k, but zero issues thus far. Mostly trail Jeep though, so the miles it does see are all bumpy and rattly and harder than highway.

3.6 in the JT has been fine, just over 25k mi.
