Perfect give me factory 35s, a wide array of color choices and uConnect 5 and I’ll be set. Any other options would be welcomed but not necessary.
I think the factory 35's could be a solid option , we'll probably never have a wide array of color choices unless you like gray lol, and I think uConnect5 is a 50/50 with a slight edge to happening because it also comes in an 8.4" screen so they wouldn't have to change anything else. Im definitely excited to see what the new MY brings.

Is the consensus that the diesel will be carried over for 2022? I’m just beginning my search and will almost certainly wait and do a custom order in August or so.

At this point, I'm mainly just holding out for the color.

A dealership near me just listed a 2016 Rubicon in Rhino for $39K. 45K miles on it. It's a few years older than I'd prefer, and I'd have to add a new head unit to my "stuff budget", but it's also the exact color I've been drooling over AND it's a solid 10K less than I've been planning to spend.

REALLY tempting.

A 2016 is a JK not a JL. I would consider a base JL Rubicon over a JK if I was on a budget. I would say there is more than $10K worth of improvements for a JL.

Yeah, I know. I've been hoping I can find a 2018 Rubi in Rhino if I'm going to go used.

If I go 2022, it'll be a Sahara - I really despise the red interior accents on the newer Rubicons, and have calculated it would cost ~$2k to get rid of them. Admittedly, a Rubi is more than I'm likely to need/use, too. But if I'm going to go used, then I'll have the extra room in the budget to get the Rubi, plus it looks like they started the red in 2019/2020. If I go used, I'll be shopping for a 2016-2018 Rubi in Rhino. Otherwise it's a 2021/2022 Sahara.

I'm driving an '07 GMC Sierra right now, so anything's going to be an improvement, lol.

Have you looked at maybe a WILLYS?

Also, not sure if you have been keeping up with used Wrangler values lately? I mean in the last 2 weeks. Prices have been going through the roof on used ones. I just sold my '19 JLR to a wholesaler for $2K MORE than what I paid brand new for it 2 years ago. They still have to retail it. It's nuts.

Yeah, I've been watching prices. I'm not in a *huge* rush, but I'm also getting pretty antsy, lol. I'm figuring I could talk this dealer down a couple grand, as well.

The other thing is that as built, at 5-7% below invoice, the Sahara that I want is only ~$47K after taxes/fees. So going used isn't going to save me *that* much**, and I'd already budgeted $50K when I first started researching, so I'm still comfortable either way.

EDIT: **yeah, I realize $10K is a lot of money, but I figure I'm going to drive this thing for 10-15 years, so it's not that much over the lifespan of the vehicle. Also, as was pointed out previously, there's a LOT of difference between a JK and a JL - at least $10K. Also lots of intangibles between used and new - full warranty, the 3 years of Jeep Wave or whatever, etc. Just didn't mean to sound snobby/disconnected that a $10K price difference is immaterial. It's immaterial to my decision for this specific purchase, lol.

Speaking of improvement. The 2021-2022 Wrangler has better steering and some other improvements over earlier JLs.
