PHEV are laughable when talking battery only mode. To me that battery would serve more purpose with the power box.

The vast majority of my monthly mileage is battery only mode.

Dodge is easing the market into low range fun, the reality is not many people require long range out of an EV, when there are better fossil vehicles for that.

EVs for the most part should cater to the urban crowd, then charging isn't such a huge issue.

Why not just build this into the side of the battery. It could be outlets and controls under the edge of the back seat facing the driver's side passenger. Readily available and not a completely separate dongle.

People will find a way to mess up the battery, jam a knife into the outlet, spill water into the outlet.

It's just better to have a power box to manage the abuse.

Bidirectional charging is also a way for the government to suck your battery dry overnight during a lockdown, when science strikes again sometime in the future after another ? unleash a disease, it's easing people into V2G.

It's hard to describe the joys of rock crawling in 4-low in electric mode, but something about it is just fun as hell, hearing nothing besides the sound of birds and wind and rocks crunching under the tires.

At least, that's what I use my 4xe battery for. Not sure about other owners.

My only experience with a 4xe was when a friend wheeled with me at Sand Hollow. As I was spotting him I finally said to him WTF are you doing? Why is it acting weird? I believe he was not in pure electric mode so it seemed like the Jeep was trying to "think". To each his own but I just don't see the value in it for the minuscule gas savings against the upfront costs.
I could see it being cool in all electric for rock crawling though.
