Aside from the very slight price increase, why not wait till the very end of the warranty purchase window. This warranty doesn't stack on to the original. You don't really gain anything from the early purchase (aside of the slight cost discount). I'd use up my original warranty then consider purchasing the lifetime if I feel it necessary. You never know if in those first few years you wind up getting rid of the Jeep for whatever reason and throw away that lifetime warranty. So I am reading this correctly? Can the warranty be purchased withing the first 12 months or 12,000 at the same price as new? If so why would you purchase it when the car is new, why not wait 12 months and get a feel for the Jeep before you drop $2600?
In my case that warranty is $4000. I think I'd be better off rolling the dice and putting that $4k in a savings account. If I have a dire repair that needs the money, it's there. Chances are with our benign driving habits such a major failure is very unlikely. If that's the case, my money is in my bank, not Chrysler's.
