Must be the Florida thing. I just ran it through using Florida ($3965) and Minnesota ($3030) one right after the other. That's crazy.

Yes you would have to purchase at the dealer to roll it in with financing, unless you refinance later.

Interesting about the ending of the warranty when it reaches the fair market value or purchase price. I wouldn't worry too much since they hold their value and that would be a LOT of repairs to hit that. At which point it really would have paid for itself.
Dang, an extra $1k for getting too much sunshine and no guarantee dealer would match price. The dealers here are greedy bastards. I may have to skip this warranty. Bummer

My question is whether they will offer the Lifetime warranty on the diesel wranglers because they didn’t on my father in law’s 2014 3500 with a diesel. Wonder what the logic is with fca?
I read under the terms something to the effect that diesels are not covered. But then again I think FCA US vehicles are exempt from that rule. Not sure.

"
Eligible Vehicles

All Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Fiat vehicles within 48 months of the in-service date and with less than 48,000 miles are eligible for Lifetime Maximum Care Plans, regardless of how many owners there may have been. The Viper, Sprinter, SRT models, ProMaster models, diesel equipped and all Ram Cab/Chassis vehicles as well as vehicles used for police service, taxi, limousine, postal delivery or ambulance service are not eligible for Lifetime Vehicle Protection, but are eligible for limited year and mileage warranty coverage. More details eligible and ineligible vehicles can be found at Vehicle Eligibility."

"
Ineligible for MECHANICAL COVERAGE

  • Vehicles equipped with a Diesel engine (except FCA US, Ford, GM and Volkswagen vehicles)"

That would be a big bummer. Mainly that is a huge reason why I am waiting to order my Rubi.

I'm going to offer $18
A few things to note: "Lifetime Maximum Care ends on the date of sale or transfer or when an individual claim meets or exceeds the fair market value of the vehicle at the time of claim or when the total amount paid for all claims under the warranty exceeds the purchase price of the vehicle."
That's the beauty of a Wrangler and its high resale value. You'll get more out of that warranty than nearly any other vehicle you could buy. I'm buying this warranty, then I'm going to drive the shit out of this thing, worry free. Just like I continue to do with my JKU. Love it!

You have the lifetime warranty on your JKU?

Yep. It isn't the Mastercare warranty, but it was a factory lifetime warranty given in 07 by Chrysler as an incentive. It strictly covers the powertrain and I have to go in every 5 years, within 30 days of the anniversary of the purchase date, and get a free inspection. It has no deductible. Coverage ends when the price of a repair exceeds the resale value of the Jeep. Helluva deal, except that I paid sticker for the Wrangler when I bought it. That actually wasn't bad, because every other dealer, pretty much from coast to coast, was charging two to three thousand over sticker when I bought it. In fact, until I found this Jeep, the best deal I could find was $2k over sticker. Some were getting $5k over. The warranty made me feel a lot better about it. Also, they gave me a better trade on my 03 Tahoe than any other dealer would give. They covered a new transmission a few thousand miles ago, so that right there, by itself, was worth it. The tranny didn't fail, however. It was popping gently out of 3rd gear once or twice a month. I wouldn't even have considered repairing or replacing it if I didn't have that warranty. I didn't ask them, either. They proposed it after I simply asked them to check it out. That warranty and my dealer have been great. The new NSG370 feels MUCH better than the old one did, even when new. They told me the new (FCA factory rebuilt) unit included all the latest updates, so it most certainly would have some differences from the 2008 version. Either way, my JK runs, drives, and feels better than new.

That's promising information. So as an incentive that warranty was free I'm guessing.

How do you use your Jeep? Off-road a lot? Modded?
I have to admit I like the Lifetime deal just need to see how the hell I can pay for it.

Yep, it was no charge.

I go off-road a lot, and my Dealer knows it. I also have a 2" AEV lift and 255/80/17 (33.5") BFG KM2's. It has gone through two 5 year inspections and passed both. Service guys say no issue, even though the lift wasn't dealer installed.

One other point about our future Jeep. It would get regular DD use of about 5k mile s a year tack on maybe 2k more of extra driving and thats 7k a year, 70k in 10 years. Not a lot of use and maybe not a lot of failures. No Cold group, no Tech Group, no Nav. Short of big failures, my not be as cost effective. I gotta weight all these factors. If the Jeep were anything like my Toyota's, I'd definitely lose money.

Secondly, I do all my maintenance, ALL. I can't exactly get official records besides parts/supplies receipts and the Lifetime Warranty stipulates maintenance records must be available. I wonder how that will work.

I still think $4k is a little too much for me.

On another note I found this on another Jeep site and it might explain the FL price discrepancy.

"From what I understand Florida's Max Care Lifetime policies allow transfer to the next owner. That is the exception. I am sure the price is higher because of this exemption for those policies issued in Florida."

Florida auto warranties are regulated through the Insurance Commission so they must meet certain criteria such as the transfer-ability.

I think they use an index based upon relative ratio of news headlines that begin with "<your state here> man . . . ". For every headline that begins with "Minnesota man . . . " there's probably about a hundred that start with "Florida man . . . ".

Has anyone obtained the Lifetime Warranty for the 2018 JL's yet? If so, what price structure were they offering?

Yes, I received the following quote for the 2018 JL, send him an email to get info directly from him, he answered back pretty quickly:

From: Tom Winkels, email [email protected] - Finance Manager, Hayes Jeep - TEL-269.488.2080

MSRP is $3965
Employee price $2973
His price $2665 $100 deductible
Or $2340 $200 deductible

You can purchase this contract at this price from him after you take delivery and prior to Mopar raising their prices, which usually occurs in early April each year. Also, Mopar applies a $150 surcharge after your vehicle reaches 12 months from ‘in service’ date or 12,000 miles.

Thanks for the info! Good place to start when negotiating.....

So what are the gotchas with the Maxcare plan? I had a ‘14 JK that I bought used and had some issues and was told nothing was covered by the bumper to bumper because of aftermarket parts (LED headlights quit working due to a wiring issue...not covered because headlights were aftermarket, shocks were leaking...not covered due to aftermarket lift, popped rivets on inside of tailgate due to 35” tire breaking the OEM bracket).

So if I do aftermarket parts and keep it Mopar it should be covered no? (Lift, 35” tires, oversized tire carrier). Don’t want to put 35’s on it and be told I need to buy a new tailgate because I didn’t install the tire carrier again.

Was it an internal wiring issue with the LED headlights? I mean if you replace your factory halogens headlights with Sylvania oe Phillips halogens is that considered aftermarket too? If not then it would be no different than replacing factory LED or Halogens with aftermarket branded LEDs IMO as long as the original plugs/wiring is not altered.

Dealers will likely try to find ways to weasel out of warranty work if they can I imagine.
