just joined, not good on computers. was reading the problems on the new JL. Wow! I have owned 8 different jeeps with the last four wranglers, with 3 rubicons. Currently a 2012 Rubicon 2 dr. Was thinking of a new JL ,but with all the problems, think I'll keep mine. I never had any problems with the wranglers I've owned. What is going on with qc at jeep/

wow.. your 2012 is known for casting issues among other problems. Maybe nobody should buy a 2012 model? No problems here with my JL. its a very small percentage of people having issues.

1 post also? troll more...

Enjoy your 2012. I am enjoying the hell out of my 2018 Sting Gray and all the new tech and awesome interior. Sorry you are allowing the few to make your decision for you. All of else that are having a great experience will keep on Jeeping on. There is a great Wrangler forum that doesn't just talk about JL's you may want to consider.

I believe this is what is known as a concern troll. You’re just so terribly concerned about Jeep, what with all those problems you’ve “heard” about. Why there are just so dang many that you’re not going to buy a JL now and thought it super important to tell everyone. Everyone here. On a JL enthusiasts website. Hmmmph.

Well, rest assured, you know, if you’re still here reading this, that I for one am going to take your concern very, very seriously. I’ll do my best to not grin ear-to-ear every time I drive my trouble-laden, rust-bucket, POS JL. I’ll try to curb my enthusiasm when I see other JL’s, lest I evince too much satisfaction with my vehicle choice. When people give me thumbs-up and smile as I drive by, I’ll wave back but not emphatically, no, it’ll be more of a polite, I can’t believe I bought this crap Jeep sort of a wave. And I’ll try, every day, to get over what a fool I am for not driving something older, like, I don’t know, maybe a 2012 Jeep of some sort. It’ll be difficult, but your concern is the very first step on my road to recovery, thank you, intrepid Wolf-of-the-multiple-Wranglers-all-better-than-my-JL, thank you.

Shame you'll never know just how awesome the JL is.. Doesn't seem like anyone here can help neither as you have made your decision. Good luck on your future vehicle endeavors whenever that may be. I hope it brings enjoyment to your life as the JL has mine.

Back in '15 I had to have the new Cadillac Escalade that had just come out. I started reading the forums about transmission issues, vibrations and electrical gremlins. I thought.."for $85k vehicle, they must be working night and day to correct these issues...or these people must be a bunch of whiners"...Then, of course there were those who felt that God himself hand assembled their Escalade.

So I ordered one up. Eight months later, Cadillac bought it back and replaced it with a '16. Six months later, they bought that one back, this time for cash, and I purchased my SRT.

My point is this: Yes, the problems are REAL. There are steering issues, weld problems, wind leaks etc. Does a large forum like this exploit these issues? Yes. As with most things purchased in life...Buyer beware.

We have a '19 on order. I do not expect it to be perfect. I do, however have a very good relationship with my local dealer. With that relationship comes the confidence that if there is an issue, a remedy will be as painless as possible.

The JL being a mostly brand new model was bound to have some wrinkles to be ironed out, and I feel bad for the small percentage of people who have one of the bad ones.

But spreading hate does nothing to help those people, despite what you might think. Nor does it raise the value of your JK. At least one of the most active members here not only is a JK owner (which is great), but is a JL hater (which isn’t so great). I believe he made a comment above, actually.

Enough already.

What were your problems with your '15 and '16 Escalades ?

When my '18 JLUR came in I immediately demanded my money back, because obviously it was the worst. ;)

In all seriousness, the squeaky wheel gets the grease - and the same applies here in online forums. The loudest contingent is the unhappy one. People rarely join a forum to tell people how great their experiences are.

If you don't frequent car forums you may not know that they primarily deal with problems. Owners that have an issue often scan the internet and will post about their issue. Owners that have no issues may never visit a vehicle specific forum. Problems do tend to get blow out of proportion. With that said, the new JL does seem to have a higher rate of teething problems than one might typically expect. Give it a year or two and I am sure they will be better.

If you are happy with you JK great. But if you happen to search the JK forum you will likely find plenty of folks that have problems with those as well.

Come on guys, its a very fair question.

First year of any complex product has stuff, by buying one (a 2019 model) now you have even less chance of issue than those first run people. I got a 2 door which came out about 6 month after the 4 door started, and even then they had worked out a ton of stuff.

If you are worried, do what I did only buy one you have test driven, my steering is tight and it drives like a dream and I love it. It has more horse power than a musclecar I had in the 90s lol.

I plan on keeping mine forever, I am sure someone will be telling me welcome to 2018! 10 years from now, and you know I am good with that, cause my 2018 has been great in my jl :)
