Note: this article isn't about the best vehicle to buy new-although it certainly is positive--as it is about the best vehicle to buy new versus used, if you're considering it. It discusses price versus feature differentials of buying the rig used versus new....which makes sense right now given the new features of the JL over the JK, which is top on its list.

Cheers.

My opinion is the 2-door outranks the 4-door . Also , my 2016 JK 2-door has appreciated 20% from 25K in 2016 to 30K in 2018 , not-depreciated .

You don’t know what your car has done until you’ve found a buyer for it. Jeeps are not stocks.. with a bid and an ask that are 2 pennies apart.

Thanks . Actually , I'm not selling my 2-door JK . I merely saw the asking price on my year and build on the lot .

He said he saw a dealer asking price of $30,000- you’re showing the lowest (wholesale) prices, while he’s quoting the highest asking price he’s seen (who knows for how much the Jeep he saw actually sold for). As with practically anything else, the actual value lies somewhere in the middle. Probably @ $24,000-$25,000?

The mileage on yours is twice what it is on some of the auction examples above. A buyer is going to pay more for a lower mileage Wrangler.

Why even concern yourself with what your car is worth, anyway? It’s not for sale. Unlike a home you can’t borrow against it, and nobody in their right mind counts his cars towards his net worth (unless it’s collectible). Drive it and deal with it’s value when it’s time to replace it.:)

Lot stickers are meaningless. You'll never get full retail in trade, or in a private sale (unless the buyer is an idiot). Hell, you'll never even get NADA or Kelly book value in trade. Dealers give trade values based on wholesale/auction sales, not retail or book.

Just this morning I met a lady who was flim-flamed out of her Toy 4-runner by a sneak dealer . She had a 2006 Toy 4-runner which was dealer serviced . She told me earlier this year (2018) a dealer employee , on the look out for valuable used , told her that her "engine is getting too old and won't last" . So she sold it to the dealer for less than it was worth .

I told her that a dealer maintained Toy 4-runner engine is good for a LOT longer than 12 years . She suspected all along that they flim-flamed her .

The good part is she bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee from a cjr dealer , and she is very happy with it .
