I could see that. I did question it myself, but the Mojito kept growing on me. More so, my husband who thought it was ugly grew to like it.
I wish they would bring back tank green. That color is bad ass.
I don't think I would grow sick of a car color *if* it was one I chose in the first place. I had a dark green Camry back in the day when everyone had a dark green Camry. I HATED that car so much. There was a sea of them every time I went into a parking lot. I only bought it because my dad badgered me into getting one because they were "such reliable cars." I traded it in at my 3 month oil change.

On the other hand, my only new car I have ever owned (aside from my current Jeep) was a 2000 Limited Edition Reflex Yellow Beetle that I ordered. It was one of only 2000 in the country. That car made me absolutely HATE VW, but I never grew tired of the color, despite not being a fan of yellow normally.

Clearly I missed some posts. Thanks. :) (Not that I am buying another.)
If I understand right, they are keeping mojito until bikini is actually available, then dropping it as bikini is introduced into available to order.

That is also the way I understand it. I believe they did that with Nacho and then yellow.

Sting Grey was my second choice. We have a Durango in Granite (Trading/Selling) and a Grand Cherokee in Silver. Thought some color other than grey might be a nice change. Just ordered the Punk'n! But I do like the Sting Grey.

2800 miles on my Sting Gray JLUS and it always looks clean. Love the way it takes on different hues in different settings. I added a blue decal and adding a blue Alien full shade this weekend. Should look great.

I think yellow is a love it or leave it color. Personally I love it on certain cars. Hides dust and dirt great. I had a Velocity Yellow Vette. Bugs LOVED it right after washing it. Bees LOVED it! They must have thought it was a huge flower or something? Your Bug looked great in yellow. Why the hate for VW? Your dad was right about the 1995-1996 Camry. It was super reliable, only rust would kill it. Lol.

Bigdogs- Do you have the painted roof or do you have one of the black roofs on yours? I would love to see a full picture of your Sahara in Sting Gray. I had ordered a sport S in that color and then cancel the order to order a Sahara with the power rule. When I switch to the Sahara I thought that the Sting gray would be too aggressive on a full painted body so I switched to granite. Still wondering if I made the right decision I haven’t been able to see a Sahara in Sting Gray yet

Well, I pulled the trigger this morning and ordered the Sting Gray Rubicon! Delivery likely sometime in December. Thanks for the pics and advise. This is my first wrangler and I am excited.
Congrats you will love it. You will now be in the crowd to talk everyone out of it

I like the color. Saw three on lot and days later all gone.

Oh, I had forgotten the bugs and bees part! Yes, bees were obsessed with my Beetle. :giggle:

As for why I hate VW, the interior finish on my Beetle started peeling apart in months. There were mechanical failures too. VW never offered recalls on anything, despite the problems being widespread so I had to pay for everything out of pocket. It was literally YEARS after I had one repair done that they finally said it should have been covered under warranty and said they would reimburse me if I still had the receipt. Basically they blamed owners for what should have been warranty work. If I remember correctly, they only did the recalls many years after the fact because they were sued as a class action or forced by the government.

I babied my Beetle, and I hated seeing it fall apart while I was still making payments.

I get it. Unfortunately car companies don't seem to look into the future and care about brand retention. Every company can have QC issues. it's how they treat and handle customers during and after the issues. VW certainly had a history of poor management and lack of consumer concern. There was flat out corruption within corporate culture as was exposed by the Diesel Scandal. They are trying to turn around the loss of market share with new marketing. They have one of the best bumper-bumper warranties in the business now starting with 2018 models. Think it's 7 years / 100K miles bumper to bumper.

The whole denial of warranty until government or class action law suits is all too common unfortunately. Most car companies used to do business like that. Hopefully that business model is changing. I noticed some car companies are trying to get ahead of the potentially bad exposure and negative image by doing voluntary recalls. Subaru voluntarily bought back brand new Ascents with defective frame welds. They also voluntarily extended the warranties on CVT transmissions to 10 years/100K.

Don't flame me, I am new and just getting ready to order a new Rubicon. I was planning Mojito, but have went back and forth between it and Sting Gray. My question is how difficult is it to keep the Sting Gray clean? I have always owned lighter colors like white, silver and quicksand Tacoma. I am not a total clean freak as it is a Wrangler, but I don't want the maintenance of a black, blue, etc. Any input would be appreciated....
Usually the brighter the color the less dust you will notice. Black is obviously the worse, it only stays clean for about 5 minutes after washing. Best dark color for hiding dirt is Granite.

I love both Sting Gray and Mojito. Both should hide dust and dirt.

Go to the dealer and look at both colors. One will look cleaner even though both probably will have about the same amount of dirt if both have been outside awhile. I am betting Mojito will look cleaner. The blue will probably hide dirt well also. The best will probably be silver or yellow.

I also have an 62 Beetle Convertible. I always hated how VW treated enthusiasts. They would sue people with personal blogs for writing about their restorations. They actively went after lots of aftermarket part manufacturers which would not have been a big deal *if* they had actually produced aftermarket part themselves. Instead it was more like they wanted forced obsolescence.

I just prefer the culture of the Mopar manufacturers who still produce crate engines and parts for cars going back 50+ years.

Plus the ethics of the company (emissions scandal) definitely bothers me. I am not naive enough to believe that car companies are in it for the good of the people, but actively scamming like that cemented my negative opinion of them--although not enough to ever get rid of my old Beetle :)
