Add me to the list of “banging” transmissions. Mine has done it three times. Go to accelerate from a stop and it bangs into gear. I also was running down the road between 55 and 60 and it felt like the jeep missing or searching for a speed. Not sure if that is the trans or fuel. This one has 900 miles on it. There is some problem with the transmission. Mine also has a lurching problem when you are barely trying to move like the fly by wire is no responding fast enough to pedal input

Purchased my jlu in May. I’ve exprerienced the shudder as well from very beginning and it’s always concerned me. Now, I’m running into bigger problems... as some others have expressed as well. When in drive sharply tapping and quickly releasing accelerator send the RPM’s soaring to almost 4K and takes a long time (30 secs) to actually come back down fully. Also feeling/hearing clunking noice when pressing acceleration and letting off, possibly from trans I assume. Maybe this is a torque converter issue?? Taking to dealership tomorrow. This NEEDS to be fixed. Very disappointing for a vehicle that hasn’t hit 6k miles yet.

If site moderators can notice my case as well and provide feedback it would be much appreciated. Thank you

I have the shudder problem on mine, usually in 3rd and 4th and on a slight uphill. Took it to one dealership and they could not reproduce. Took it to another dealership and they said "Here, take the shop manager on a drive and show him." Of course since it is not every time the Jeep drove pretty well with the shop manager. Pulled over and shut off the engine and tried again and it did shudder enough that the shop manager felt it. I have an appointment with the second dealer on 6 Sept. I am interested to see what they come up with; but I do not expect much of anything and I will have to keep going back.

I already have a case with Jeep Customer Care requesting a buy back. Bought in April and the Jeep has been in service 5 times for a total of 7 weeks so far. I really want to love the Jeep but I am finding it hard to get over all the issues.

Thank you for getting back to me. Turns out the clunking was a rear control arm that was loose, rpms shooting up is suppose to happen apparently.

I have a Rubicon JL with 1000k miles and I’ve been experiencing the same problems. A sudder when slowing down. The Jeep feels like it wants to take off. It also does it when coasting around 30 MPH it feels like it slows down and then wants to accelerate. All happens within a second. Like a go cart with a carburetor problem. It doesn’t do it all the time but it’s been doing it every other day now. Once it starts it’ll do it all day

Wondering if some of it has to do with the hill descent feature

I drove it in manual mode and it didn’t do it. Not sure what it could be. Hope it’s nothing big. I finally decided to buy a new car so I wouldn’t have to be worrying about car problems

Are you thinking about getting this inspected by the dealer? Send me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this in more detail.

This happens almost every time I pull into my driveway, open the garage, and then go from the slow coasting/roll back into a light acceleration to get the Jeep in the garage. Seems the slow roll, then to a very light press on the acceleration causes a slight jerk, knocking noise, then it tends to smooth itself out once it eases into back up to a steady 3-5 mph to pull in the garage.
I sometimes get this knock/jerk from the transmission or drive train when in similar driving situations.

All,
Has anyone had an issue with stop start lagging and lurching forward? Almost as though the transmission is not engaging and when it does it jerks forward? Also had the high rpms and stepping on the break did not stop the 2018 JLU Sport automatic 8 speed with 4 cylinder turbo. Had the stop start disabled message earlier in the day but thought nothing of it. Could all be related?

What was the findings in September? I had a similar issue at an intersection making a left and going up hill. The Jeep hesitated for a good 6 to 8 seconds.

Hi bhenderson3434
We understand why this may be concerning. We recommend having your dealer look into this. Please send us a private message if you would like some additional assistance while your Jeep is at the dealer.

I have the 6 speed manual and I get the same thing. If I'm cursing and give it some gas it hiccups then drives normal. I have to cruise for a bit to make it happen again. I also have a jerky acceleration it is not smooth and there is nothing the dealer will do for me.
