Offshoot question.

Anyone running BBAT’s on OEM rims, which I think are 7.5” wide? Micky Thompson specs the tires for 8.0-11.0” rims, although Discount Tire specs the same tire for 7.5-11.5”. Any consensus that I would need a wider rim?
Hello Larry. Have you gotten any other responses other than the one below on this? I too am curious on this as well as I purchased a used 2022 JLUR XR and the previous owner switched wheels and tires from the stock Rubicon XR 8" wheels and KO2 315 70 17's to Rubicon 7.5" and Falken WildPeak M/T 285 70 17's. Why, I don't know? I also would like to go with the 315 70 17 BB AT's on the 7.5" rims if that works without rubbing. I've read that it works but may have some wear issues (center tire) due to the narrow wheel. Tire pressure may also have to be lower to compensate.

He probably got a good deal on the set of Falkens. So far most of the 35” take off’s I’ve seen have wheels with a negative offset and I am not sure I want my tires to stick out that much. I may just try to wear out my 33" KO2’s before I get around to new tires. After that the most straight forward route would be 35” tires on the 7.5 rims and then think about wider wheels. I put in a 2.5 lift a few months ago and the 33” KO2 have done ok on the CA and Nevada trails I like to ride on - easy to moderate mostly.

I just purchased a set of the BB AT'S as well from DT in Redmond. I didnt notice anybody taking selfies with my 4xe, although I heard a few positive comments among the installers. They did a good job up there in Redmond; Id recommend them.

I was expecting the tires' loaded radius to be a bit closer to 37"...mine are measuring 35.5" at 32psi which is the same as my old KO2's.

They were initialy filled up to 37psi, but even with my rig's excess mass, that was too much pressure. There was zero wear along the outer and inner 2" of tread. My KO2s wore well at 37psi, but these seem much stiffer. Ill leave them at 33 until I can run a proper chalk test.

The tire weight is a big difference. I switched from 22Lb Kansei wheels to 32Lb Icon Rebound Pro's. My previous tire and wheel used to be 87Lbs...this new set is 110Lbs.

The tread is much beefier and seems deeper than the KO2's. I look forward to trying them out at Nile for the Pick Up a Mtn next weekend, and then to Walker Valley for the Halloween Crawl in Oct.

My favorite tire.
guys, you two make a strong case for cutting the Wrangler marketing department or sth like that at Jeep, and just use the pics and videos of your trips!

And there would be plenty of $$$ left for them to improve quality and reliability.

No difference. Don’t listen to the masses, 90% of them probably never rode E rated. Mine are 38psi cold/42psi hot and do just fine. My wife runs either C or D rated 37” Patagonias and hers are stiffer than mine.
It's funny you mention that, i have 38x13.5x17 Patagonia mts and they feel stiffer then my gfs 35x12.5x20 e rated mickey Thompson exps. Plus her tires are dead quiet and smooth and have 40k mi's with a ton of tread left. That's why i decided to get the Mickey's but I'm gonna get the Baja boss ats.

I would hard pressed to run a different tire.
Love the looks but the weight and no personal use data. Maybe some day, but all things considered, not sure it is best for me all around.

Well it always depends on what you plan to do with your Jeep. Buy what is best for your application.

Northridge for the win!! Not even close to the local shops. $411.51 per tire then add in cost of M&B of $40 per tire I'm all in at $2257.56
Thank you for the link, it still works.

@Ratbert I'm in the same boat, debating on getting these to replace my ko2's. How are you liking them so far?

The width is ok, but the wheel has to move outboard (less backspace) to clear the larger diameter for turning and suspension compression. A 35" tire with about 4.5" backspace works. OEM wheels have something like 6" backspace IIRC.

Current thinking is to let the tires stick out a couple inches and not worry about how little backspacing I can get away with - which means doing wheels and tires as a package. I would be hard put trying to keep a third set of wheels in the garage so the immediate goal is to wear out my 33’s. To that purpose sneaking in a trip to Death Valley tomorrow, in between storms, a bit early for wild flowers but likely a chance to drive in snow in the Sierra.

Larry, post some great pix. You might run into some blooms since we've had such warm weather.

So far so good. They did extremely well when I did a stupidly challenging obstacle that required airing down to 10 PSI. Not quite as good road manners as my KO2s, but seem quieter.

They also deal with rain really well. We get A LOT here being so close to rainforests. It takes relatively deep water for them to hydroplane.

They haven't touched snow yet though, so no clue on that aspect.
