...for the first vehicle I've ever custom ordered! I went with a JLU Rubicon Diesel (also my first diesel!) in Granite Crystal with the tan leather interior! I decided to go all out on this from the start with every available package I could including LED lighting, SOT top, AUX/towing package, heated seats, remote start, etc. I got EXTREMELY lucky with my order, and it was delivered within 40 days of initial placement.
The first mod I did was rip out the antenna and replace it with a dual setup CB & AM/FM receiver. There's a kit somewhere out there for the JK and it happened to fit my JL!
My second "mod" (I don't really consider wheels/tires a mod but we'll go with it) was a set of AEV Borah wheels & 315/70/17 BFG KO2s in load range C. Always been a fan of the KO2s, but I wanted a bit more sidewall than the stock 33's had to offer. Picked these up second hand off a forum member - great deal!
Trying to go through my camera roll to see what pics I have of the build (this all took place over the last year, so forgive me for this shotty vertical video but it's all I have). I wired up some Baja Designs knock offs off Amazon because I really needed an amber/yellow light for snow driving. They worked fine but I've since upgraded to KCs.
I wired in a rear overhead light on the tailgate around the same time. Used a random amazon one (the last pic isn't mine, didn't have one on hand so googled what it looks like) with a generic LED strip switch that I mounted on the back left of the hard top for easy access.
I decided I didn't like the red accents much, so I blacked out the rubicon text, painted my front tow hooks black, removed the rear hook (replaced with a hitch mounted shackle), and pulled off all of the side emblems.
Snagged a Warn EVO 10s from a different forum member (also a great deal) and threw that in my steel bumper. Only had to use it once, but was VERY thankful I had it at the time. I've since removed the red warn logo and replaced it with a custom black one. Shoutout to @pixeldecals for every custom black/gray decal on my build! They're great if anyone needs any custom work done.
I run a soft shackle at the end of it so that's what the knotted piece is in my fairlead.
I have 0 good pics of this, but I also picked up a set of Falcon shocks for a stock height JLU (I do not have a lift at all). I know they aren't the ones built for a diesel but I think they perform better off & on-road than the stockers.
My girlfriend hated that my new Jeep didn't have a step to get in like my old jeep, so I compromised and went with a step that also has a bit of body armor. ? These rugged ridge XHD steps are great, although I'm not the biggest fan of the logo cutout on them... I put some black vinyl tape under them to try and minimize their look, but it didn't really help much oh well.
Installed some cover plates for both around the winch and around the sides of my steel bumper. I don't have any pics of these actually on, but you get the idea here. Got the closeout panels from @commandojk13! No idea if he's still making them or not but they work perfectly. Latest postings on them were here.
Going way out of order here, but I forgot to post this and I feel like it needs to be said. If you have a SOT top on your wrangler, DO NOT attempt to put a roof rack on it. The wind noise is awful. I even tried to throw a wind fairing on the front that I custom fit on here, and it did absolutely nothing. We'll come to find out that I do not learn from my own mistakes later on!
