It’s a reminder to never drive with low budget insurance, cost of an accident can rack up really fast. Glad no one was injured.
Yep, I’ve always kept complete comprehensive collision coverage.

I suspect you have more damage than is readily evident. A lot of the damage you inflicted on the Nissan was from tire contact. Bent suspension parts, axle, and frame damage is possible…if not likely. Perhaps not severe but will need to be addressed. Glad you were ok…stuff can be repaired.
Yeah, I suspect that as well. The ABS is messed up and i have to hold the steering wheel almost sideways to drive straight. There’s definitely more wrong than what’s in the photos. I’m praying there’s no frame damage. That’s why I’m taking it to a place of my choice that only works on off-road vehicles to have the damage assessment done before USAA send an adjuster or however they do it.

Doubt it in this case. He rear ended someone. Premiums go boom so hell be paying back this accident for the next few years
I have accident forgiveness and my last at fault accident was in 2015, so I think I should be good.

Just went through that last Wednesday. Someone rammed into me. We all walked away from it and needless to say it’s still an awful experience. It also stings having an accident on file on this Wrangler after having it for just 2 months. Good luck!

No, I think given the situation it would be excused, like a blind corner- who do you blame? It was not his fault, in fact pretty good maneuver could have been worse

It was a blind hill and corner But I’m pretty sure they’re gonna find me at fault, which is fine. Traffic was backed up for some unknown reason. For all, I know there is another wreck further up the road. Traffic is never like that on this road, I should know because it’s the same road I live on.

It's crazy to me that people think Jeeps aren't safe. Almost every accident I have seen (on pavement) involving a wrangler, there is usually less damage on it than the other vehicle.

Glad everyone is okay!

I agree completely. I’m gonna take it to a local place that only works on off-road vehicles and get them to do the damage assessment before USAA send an adjuster or whatever.
USAA ain't what it used to be. The USAA appraiser that looked at mine was useless. I had taken photos and sent them to them with a list of things that I know were damaged. Their "appraiser" came out and determined the damage to be about $2K (that wouldn't even cover the two wheels and tires that were damaged). After six months and about a dozen amendments, the repair cost was over $20k. At least they paid.

Good luck. Take your own damage inventory and photos and stay on top of your repair shop to make sure they don't overlook things.

Really? Damn dude, hopefully I don’t have those issues. I plan on taking it to this place called bikini off-road that only works on jeeps and have a damage assessment done before I even talk to the appraiser. Getting ready to head there right now actually. Hopefully things go in my favor. Thanks for sharing.

It was not his fault
The assignment of blame is easy here: When a moving vehicle collides with a stopped vehicle(s), insurance companies will tend to presume that the driver of the moving vehicle is at fault. That is, by and large, standard industry practice. Only considerable mitigating circumstances might allow for a distribution of blame amongst the affected parties.

That said, to judge from what was mentioned on p. 1, liability does seem to be limited to the OP: "(I) crested over a hill and there was stand still traffic. Unusual because the road never has traffic, except for today. So I slam on the brakes, swerve right, and clipped the car in front of me."

Robbie has already conceded his role here, which was the right thing to do. With that in mind, it will be interesting to know if or to what extent the policy's accident forgiveness benefit comes into play here. There's also the matter of whether he's cited for inattentive driving or whatever else LE might think applies to the event.

It is fortunate for all that there were no injuries at the scene. 👍 Hopefully the repairs to the affected vehicles proceed without undue delay, and everyone can get back to the business of daily living.

Yep, as soon as I got home, I reported the accident to my insurance and basically said verbatim what you said above. Cops got called, but no citations were issued. I fully expect to be 100% at fault, but you never know. That’s up to the insurance companies to decide. I just gave my statement to the adjuster and to the other parties involved right now. We’ll see And I’ll keep y’all posted. Ugh I kind of bullied the adjuster into letting me use the jeep Repair Shop, Right after talking to him, I called the shop and got everything set up. I brought up the point that OEM parts are way more expensive than aftermarket parts that’s are cheaper, equal or better and I could see his eyes light up, he said I got you and we’ll take care of you! lol Fingers crossed

I almost ran into the back of someone in a line of cars once because some lady thought it was prudent to stop for a turkey crossing the road. I came over the hill at 50 mph (speed limit was 55mph) and if it hadn't been for traffic finally moving in the nick of time I would have ran over a car or two. It worked out but gave me a pretty good scare. People could have been killed over a damn wild turkey...absolutely ridiculous. I could understand slowing down to minimize the damage to your own car but to just stop right there on the backside of a blind hill like that to wait for the stupid thing...dumb dumb dumb.

It’s probably a good idea to get a set of eyes on it before the adjuster sees it. Will give you better perspective when you negotiate the claim. Good luck with the process….
