I have a base sport JLU - love the manual locks. Nothing like being able to lock yourself out of your Wrangler with the key sitting in the cup holders! Yes, already did it once but luckily the rear "windows" were off so I just climbed in the back!!!! Problem solved.
Then you actually do have keyless enter n go!!!!!:cwl:

They can’t put as standard equipment Keyless Enter if there is not a way to enter without a key. It’s simple!
pressing a button on a clicker/fob is the same as NOT using a key put into a keyhole and being turned. Keyless entry has been around for YEARS, my 93 ford had "keyless entry" the fact that we all thing of the thing that Jeep calls Proximity as keyless is where they screwed us... and you can only get the Proximity on the Rubicon. Those CHEATS

The base Sport does not have any buttons on the fob to lock/unlock the doors. You HAVE to insert the metal key into the door to unlock it. This is the reason for this thread. It’s not Keyless Entry as listed on the window sticker.

It’s cool though, I’ll get to play the clueless housewife that thinks her car is broken. :cwl:
Then we can all “find out” that they didn’t install it in my JL like the sticker shows it should be.
I’m still giggling about them asking me what kind of purse I’m keeping my key in as it may interrupt the keyless entry. They acted as though I didn’t know how to use my keyles entry. I’m not that clueless, I know it isn’t there.
So what happened?

Well, so far nothing.
I took it in to the dealership like Jeep asked me to since they thought that I didn’t know how to use my keyless entry. The dealership stated that it should have keyless entry but they confirmed that my Sport did not. That was pretty much it for now.
I spent an hour there and got to watch them lock themselves out thinking it was broken. :cwl: Now I’m just waiting to hear back.

Are you F'ing serious? Your fob has no buttons and they took an hour to figure out it would only unlock with the friggen key! You don't have power locks or remote proximity and they did not put two and two together right then? They actually spent an hour seeing if they could get it to work?

What in the actual fuck is wrong with this world! I am sorry but holy hell that is one group of dumb ass's right there!

I'll have to say this... You found the perfect dealership to troll with this.

So the base Sport do you still have to put the key in the ignition and turn it? I would assume then there is no push button start.

Push button start is standard on all JLs.

Ok then, that is really stupid. So you need a key to get in, then you put the key in your pocket and push the button? Um, a little counterintutive I would say.

How much more would it have cost a base Sport to just have a fob and electronic locks and push buttom start rather than the key entry and push button start. You could have still had manual windows to keep the cost down I would think.

So I'm really shocked by this. I thought base Sports had keyed entry and keyed start. I'll agree now this is really dumb on Jeeps part.

Keeping in mind that push button start is rapidly becoming the standard on almost all new cars I really don't think its stupid, even considering the "hassle" of sliding your key back in your pocket.

To answer your question about how much more it would cost to have power windows and locks as standard on the Base Sport, I just did a build and price.

Getting the Sport as close as I can to the Sport S (By adding A/C and tint windows) brings a $1410 difference in MSRP. splitting that in half with the upgraded wheels and power accessories comes to $705, assuming they'll be equal in value. Yes Jeep could have made the power locks standard, but people were already complaining enough about the JLs 3 grand price hike over the JK at this point so an extra $705 could enrage the people that take a pride in "suffering" with the base model.

We would have happily paid the $705 for power accesories. Most of the Sport S models seemed to be more like $5k more than our configured sport, but we couldn't find one with a 6spd.
