Hey everyone,
Just looking to poll everyone's thoughts on the Advanced Safety Group. Do you think its worth the money? Are you adding to your new build?

Thanks

I added it to my build and I believe it is worth the money. When all that stuff first came out I was absolutely against it. After having driven a lease with adaptive cruise control, it is so nice for dealing with terrible drivers. I don't have to constantly change my cruise speed when someone jumps in front of me and can't figure out what speed they want to go.
Auto high beam is a nice feature as well, set the lights to auto and they handle themselves. My lease is a small car and sometimes flashes others but I am hoping the wrangler is a little better at reading the environment, being as it is higher up.

Yesterday, I wish I had it. Damn near rearended a car when they stopped suddenly. LA traffic sucks. Then only negative to these systems is that a driver can get complacent and start letting the vehicle do the monitoring.

No, I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.

My wife's Honda, which preceded my JLU purchase, has the full safety suite. It has functions not included in the Wrangler's Advanced Safety Group, too. While the Honda's nanny functions work quite well, they are still intrusions on the driving experience, in my view. I therefore already knew what I could do without when configuring my Jeep build.

The foregoing is a subjective reading, necessarily so. Said differently: Options such as the ASG will have value to some owners and not others. The best way to approach this, IMO, is to determine how many driving aids you require, or prioritize, in a vehicle. Figure that out and you have your answer. ?

I ordered it, but somewhat reluctantly. My 2021 Accord has similar features, but ACC is a poor choice in rush hour traffic as it leaves too much space, and everyone just keeps pulling in front of you. The auto hi-beams are great, most of the time, but some "wonkiness" occasionally causes me to appear like I'm flashing someone, and I worry about how some people might react, (road-rage). Most of these issues go away when in lighter traffic, though, so it's a trade-off and quite dependent on how the features are programmed. The auto-brake feature is awesome, though. I have not experienced the Jeep version of this package yet.

I have a different opinion... it's does the opposite of what's its supposed too. Makes driving more stressful as you always have to babysit it. Too many false positives. Had it in our Jeep Grand Cherokee and said never again. Adaptive cruise doesn't anticipate sudden stops or someone squeezing in so you constantly are taking over anyway. Lane departure is constantly alerting especially around bends or in construction zones. And auto highbeams? Just get the LED headlights and I guarantee you won't need high beams as they are that bright.

All these nannys make us worse drivers imo. I mean c'mon, how hard is it to stay in your lane? And if you need adaptive cc, maybe the driving conditions don't warrant using cruise control in the first place. The only aides that I find useful are the backup camera, which is required by law now, and blind spot monitoring which just gives you that much more reassurance during a lane change.

Old man rant over. :)

Smart Technology discount on your insurance policy helps a little.
I did not order it, was loaded on the lot with Deisel engine, but it had $5,300 dealer discount so, WTF!

Adaptive cruise is great on long trips. You really miss it after using it for a while in other vehicles.

Hopefully the Jeep implementation lets you set the distance close enough.

One issue is in lots of snow. It'll get clogged and disabled, so no cruise at all.

Another issue is how the brake lights are designed to work with this tech; if brake lights are not activated when the car is slowing you down it could cause some confusion to those behind you, (not sure how the JEEP system works in this regard). I have also seen some of these systems being too sensitive and brake when you would rather it didn't. Overall, I think the good outweighs the bad, but it's no slam-dunk, and there are some negatives, and a learning curve. I would be interested in hearing from those that actually have the latest itineration. I have also had my front radar get deactivated by snow, btw.

I reluctantly added the ASG to our 4xe build (wife wanted it). We are at 8,000 mils now and I am glad we did. The auto high beams work great (much quicker than i can turn them on/off). The forward collision warning has turned on twice, both at times it should have. The auto cruise works nicely too.

Overall, we gave found the system to be complementary and not intrusive.

It works well- has alerted me to people slamming on their brakes. Cross path is pretty awesome. Adaptive cruise works well for anytime you’re on the highway- just set it and go.
I find it more useful in the grand Cherokee where we do a lot of road trips. The wrangler is mostly around town and it’s still good. I wouldn’t say it’s a must have, but I wouldn’t say it’s a waste either.

I could tell you, but then....
Wife had it in her GC and it was in the Raptor I bought a while back. We tried it out in both vehicles, but didn't really care for it. The lane keep assist seemed almost like it overcorrected if you neared the line, the auto high beams were constantly on/off and thrown off by things like streetlights, etc. and the ACC was a little rough... almost getting me rear ended when someone pulled in front of me and hit the brakes even though there was enough room to simply back off the gas and increase distance again and the guy behind me was too close.

if it's on a vehicle already I'm not going to turn it down, I'll just leave it off. If I'm ordering one it will never be included.
