I have it, and am glad I do. It’s nice for long trips on the highway, works flawlessly. Plus, I receive a significant discount on my insurance because I have it. It will pay for itself within 2-3 years.

I had this package on my 2021 JLUR and loved it. I think it is worth the money. I also have this package on my F150 and love it. My wife has a 2015 Escalade and it doesn't have the Adaptive Cruise Control and I so miss it when we take her car on long drives.

Hey everyone,
Just looking to poll everyone's thoughts on the Advanced Safety Group. Do you think its worth the money? Are you adding to your new build?

Thanks
I have not read all of the replies but one comment

Adaptive cruise control works great on freeways and major highways that aren’t very crowded. I frequently drive from Arizona to LA on I-10. There are endless trucks slowly pulling out to pass when I’m driving along in cruise control. The adaptive part slows the car down but keeps it in cruise control. When the truck pulls back to the right lane, the car speeds back up to the set amount. This saves endless braking and putting the car back into cruise control. It’s a joy over several hours.

The LA freeways and about all urban areas don’t qualify as “aren’t very crowded.”

When you go through a construction zone, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically slows you down and maintains a consistent distance from the car in front of you. When you leave the construction zone, ACC automatically speeds you back up to your maximum set speed. I even use it around town occasionally. If the car in front of you comes to a complete stop, ACC will bring your vehicle to a complete stop and hold you there for several seconds to give you an opportunity to put your foot on the brake.

Hey everyone,
Do all the features of Advanced Safety Group - ACC etc. work with a manual transmission? I can see some issues with slowing the car down automatically that would require a change of gears.

I foolishly just ordered mine with clear windows thinking since I'm gonna be sitting up in the front anyways with all the controls nearby I may as well just look out now and again and see if there are any dangers and properly avoid them with my hands and feet
A fool such as I

The last couple of comments about Adaptive Cruise Control are spot-on. It's going to be the most helpful on non-crowded highways, especially for long road trips.

In traffic, it still functions, but it's less than ideal, for a couple of key reasons:
  1. Even at the lowest setting (there are 3), the distance that it leaves between you and the car in front of you is pretty long. While *we* understand that space is "safety space" to allow you/your vehicle to brake in time, *everyone else* will view that space as specifically reserved for them to squeeze into. As an offensive-defensive driver (which everyone should be, IMO), it's really obnoxious.
  2. The system is just about 2 ticks away from "properly sensitive". It takes a few extra seconds longer than it should to recognize when there's a new car in your lane, or when a car has left your lane, etc. The result is that in medium-to-heavy traffic, it ends up gunning it or braking hard unnecessarily. It also takes a few extra seconds too long to see when a vehicle in front of you has taken an off-ramp, which could result in the vehicle braking for no reason.
You learn to adjust your driving to accommodate this, but it's still "a thing".

But yeah, being able to stay on cruise through construction zones (assuming the guy in front of you is going the right speed, obviously) and such is really really nice and I love it. I use it daily.

I ordered my Unlimited with it.....so I assume yes! Waiting on mine to be built.

Didn't order it on mine, I wanted as basic as possible. I plan on keeping this jeep basically forever, so anything extra that could cause more maintenance headaches in the long run, I went without. Really the only option I ordered beyond the 23k package was A/C because that should be standard in my mind anyway.
