Can I get an education.

Fox has thier 2.0 performance shocks.

The mopar lift kit comes with 2.5 inch shocks.

I didn’t realize the 2 shocks were different. I realized cause dealership price for the mopar ones without the kit were double the price of a 2.0.

What kinda difference are we talking here for double the price?

Not a noticible difference unless tuning inside is different for the mopar ones. 2.5s may ride stiffer due to oil volume they have to displace, but they may be valved softer than the 2.0s so you wouldnt notice a difference. The increase in size is better for heat and to lessen shock fading.

If you are not fully comprehending..

Fox has their 2.0 performance shocks - Yes correct
The mopar lift kit comes with 2.5 inch shocks - No, the kit comes with 2.0 shocks for additional 2.5" lift.

"The included Fox monotube shocks feature a 2.5 inch diameter aluminum shock body, which will operate cooler and assist tire articulation on the trail"
this is from the mopar 2 inch lift kit.

I'm getting the 2.0's cause the mopar quoted price to me from the dealer for the 2.5" were literally the price of the 2 inch lift kit which I don't need. I called an online mopar dealer and he actually quoted me a similar price cause I couldn't get over it. the jeep dealer who is doing the work said just do the 2.0's cause oft he price difference. so I just came here to see if I was making the right choice. quadretec said. the same thing as above the larger diameter means faster cooling.

I'm just adding a .75" spacer up front to level out (loose the factory rake) and add new shocks.

That’s what I understood. The new shocks are 2.5” in diameter. Not referring to 2.5” of lift.

I am looking at the Mopar liftas well. Just concerned about the bow.

Most of the cost in the Mopar lift is in the shocks.

Make sure your collapsed/extended lengths work for your lift. The Mopar Fox 2.5" diameter shocks have a collapsed length that is around 2" longer than OEM, which would require at least a 2" bump stop.

The Mopar lift comes with 2” bumps, front and rear.

Ok so I’m right that the shocks from fox are 2 inch and the mopar fox ones are 2.5 inch?

For double the price I just wasn’t thinking it was worth it. The guys at the shop didn’t think so either. That’s why they had me just get them from quadretec and then have them put them on along with the coil spacer up front to level the Jeep out.

The Mopar Fox‘s ride much better and the larger body helps with heat dissipation. Although the 2.0 foxes are a terrific shock, the bigger Mopar Fox is better all around. Getting the 2.0 tuned is a different conversation but with out a reservoir they still can’t dissipate heat as well. You most likely won’t notice a difference unless you are on a rough trail.

Fox and other companies sell many different diameters of shocks, and I've seen anywhere from 1.75" to over 3" in diameter. The larger the diameters are typical on the higher-end shocks.

The Mopar lift shocks are 2.5" in diameter. This is in no way related to the lift height, collapsed or extended lengths. Fox also offers 2.5" diameter 'elite series' shocks that have a remote reservoir in addition to their 2.0" diameter shocks that are available with & without a remote reservoir.

Lift height is generally going to be based off of the shocks collapsed length, with the goal being to match the bump stop with the collapsed length.

Here's Fox's shocks offerings (except for the Mopar shocks) https://accutuneoffroad.com/product...c-products/jeep/jeep-jl/jeep-jl-front-shocks/

Mopar lift doesn't require a new front driveshaft. We can assume then that the down travel of the Mopar Fox are the reason. Something to consider.
