Honestly the CVT is the weakest link in the Subie drivetrain. A proper slushbox and some traction control tuning and it wouldn't be as bad as it is for proper trails. Wouldn't be a Jeep, but would be better than it sits currently.
What’s funny is I find myself not hating the CVT. I know it’s a weak point, reliability wise, which is why it’s nice that the Wilderness includes a transmission cooler. I also plan on changing the fluid every 30k just to be on the safe side. Fouled trans fluid is what seems to grenade these Subaru CVTs.

And they just never respond like you need when you need a proper low gear. They just don't like doing 1st gear stuff off road. At least, based on what I've seen from afar. I have no intentions on wheeling anything with a CVT lol

I'd been wanting to have an excuse to use my winch, but I ended up using it 7 times the first day I needed it. That virgin powder was deep!
Thats one thing Im not sure how I feel moving out that way. On one hand I miss snow a lot from living in the NE, on the other I dont want to spend a day pulling rope in the snow lol

Oh, so you'll pull a man's rope on a sunny day, but not a snowy day?

Who would wheel in a Subaru? If I’m doing technical shit, I‘ll be in the Jeep.

I dunno, seems like it might be a thing to do if you're bored one day.

Snow sucks and it's cold.

One of the reasons why we need to pump those CO2 numbers up man get rid of winter entirely.

They are promoting the new Honda Pilot as a credible off roader so there is that

It was all intentional. It was one of those "holy crap, do see the snow on that peak?" moments that you simply can't run away from and expect to keep your man card.

Figured it out. We'll start a YouTube channel where all we do is take these incredibly underwhelming off roaders on Jeep trails and absolutely thrash them to see if they'll still be running when done. Just gotta find some wealthy investors for this clearly well thought out business plan.

Are we allowed to put Lights and a RTT on them first?
