Nope it was an actual suspension lift. And better yet there was even aftermarket control arms for it for extra clearance. Yes there are spacer lifts and all that as well.

So how did they avoid topping out the IFS? Even if it's a spring, you're pretty set in maximum droop by the CV even if you have a custom strut that bakes the lift into the distance between the top hat and knuckle mount.

Because a renegade with 230 wheel horsepower is hilarious.
So many turbo mods and tuning potential in that little 1.4 / 1.3 turbo motor. And with the manual transmission.
Sometimes its ok for a car to just be a shitbox runabout no need for companies to put together a shitty turbo kit or whatever else thats gonna fall apart in a year lol.

So it is tiptoed.

That's just gonna be most of the way through its down travel pretty much all the time.
I didn't particularly care I was more into the performance modifications.

Turbo 4 banger manual transmission with all-wheel drive it was fun.

Had a buddy who had the 2.4 and it was a DOG. Never got to ride in one with the 1.x Turbo.

The turbo was faster than the larger NA motor which is why during the refresh they made the turbo motor the upgraded engine instead of the base engine like it was at the start. And the turbo engine could take mods it was the same engine they used in that little alpha roadster and it took the mods like crazy.

Well duh.

We actually drug that stock Renegade down Wolf's Den. Did fine, just rubbed on every erosion hump lol.

As somebody who dailies a Crosstrek Wilderness, I can tell you these unibody soft-roaders are dog shit for real trail work. That’s why I also own a Jeep.

However, we get a shitload of snow here and on roads with packed snow I’ll take the Subaru 20 times out of 20. It’s also a solid car for getting to hiking trailheads. Loves forest roads and doesn’t immediately bottom out if things get a little bumpy. 9.2” of ground clearance really helps. But people shouldn’t get it twisted and think they’ve suddenly got an overlanding rig just because it says “Wilderness” on the side.

To be fair they will do whatever "overlanding" most are sold for on instagram

Honestly the CVT is the weakest link in the Subie drivetrain. A proper slushbox and some traction control tuning and it wouldn't be as bad as it is for proper trails. Wouldn't be a Jeep, but would be better than it sits currently.

It was 12 years for me and then I used my winch 5 times in a 1.5 week span lol
I'd been wanting to have an excuse to use my winch, but I ended up using it 7 times the first day I needed it. That virgin powder was deep!
