This is how I did it, and so far so goodJust purchased a Quadratec Stealth winch, hoping to install this weekend. Can anyone provide pics of how you routed the winch cables from the bumper to the battery? I’m particularly interested in seeing pictures from underneath. TIA!
. I just made sure that the cables don’t rub against any metal. I took some hydraulic hose and split it down the side to wrap around cables where they are most vulnerable.
There is a you tube video by Trail Recon. Installing a OEM steel bumper and a Smittybuilt winch but he shows how he routes the cables along side the right headlight using a hanger to pull the wires. Thanks! Hopefully will get to the project Saturday. Also helping my sister with her rear bumper install, so hopefully we have time to fit it all in.
I watched that and installed my Smittybilt X2O Comp winch the same way. Worked great. There is a you tube video by Trail Recon. Installing a OEM steel bumper and a Smittybuilt winch but he shows how he routes the cables along side the right headlight using a hanger to pull the wires.

What is this youtube you speak of?If you have not yet checked.... I would recommend google / YouTube. It’s unbelievable all the technical instructions that can be found on there.
We were all new at some point, not silly at all.Probably a silly question but do you have an aftermarket bumper or winch carrier to mount the winch to?
hehe I know, I have a winch I was making sure you didWe were all new at some point, not silly at all.
If you have the stock steel bumper, you need a winch mount that fits behind it. If you have the plastic bumper, then you'll need a new bumper.
I also took the air filter out, along with the box and made everything easierI took the airbox out and it made running the wires very simple.

When I tied them off to the frame, I zip tied the cables together then zip tied the zip tie to the frame. Pictures are kinda in sequence top to bottom, if you have any questions, happy to help ...
