The winch needs MUCH more 40 amps... You can use one of those power interrupt kits, but all you really need is a solenoid and a short red jumper cable. Battery red to big post solenoid, red winch cable to other big post on solenoid, then a ground to one of the smaller post on the solenoid, and the AUX cable to the other smaller post. The 15amp switches are fine for this, the power draw is tiny. (The solenoid is like $25 by itself...)
Though, really, runaway winch is really only issue with the older 2 solenoid control boxes. On those, if one of the solenoids gets welded or stuck open you'd have a runaway winch. As long as it's a 4 solenoid control box, or newer solid stage connector it wont runway. The X20 is solid state so you don't really need to wouldn't worry about a runaway condition.
I usually just leave my winch physically unplugged from the positive terminal when I'm not off-road. (Because a short in an unfused cable could cause a fire.)
