Toyotas are cars for people who really do not like cars. Reliably but incredibly bland. That suits some peoples personalities but not mine. I have owned over 100 vehicles, never a single Toyota. I have driven plenty of them and every time I do I am reminded why I never have owned one.

I recently had a back to back drive with a 2020 TRD Tacoma manual and my wife's JLR manual. The Jeep is about 100 times more entertaining to drive. The engine sounds MUCH better and I have always hated the sit in a hole feeling the Toyota "trucks" have.

Rubicon vs Willys is a no brainer in my book but the non Rubicon owners love to argue for their chosen models as well. You get a lot of value in a Rubicon if you can stay away from all the non functional options.

All good choices to be honest. We have a 2020 JLUR and a 2021 4R TRD Pro that we use as daily drivers. I would agree that that the 4R is a better on-road / trip vehicle. The JLUR is great for around town, but is never my go to when I have to make a long highway trip. TRD Pro's are a bit rare around here where JLUR's are everywhere, so we actually get many more looks / compliments on the 4R then the Jeep. I don't recommend buying something based on the looks you get however ...

For seats and seating position the Jeep is the clear choice. The Toyota seat bottoms are small/short and Toyota seats are too close to the floor for me.

I like the simplicity of a 2 door jeep but I just don’t want to spend 60k for myself on one …
A 2 door Willys Sport is about $35k. A fully Loaded, well as loaded as a Willys can get, is in the low 40s. It will do the things you want to do. Far lesser vehicles have done Black Bear.

I had a 2017 JKU and was forced to sell. I bought a 2018 4Runner TRD Offroad, lifted it, wheeled it, and daily drove it. I began to hate it. It's so underpowered it drove me crazy. It's boring to drive, blends in with everything else in the road. I put the slimline bumper on it with winch, sliders, painted the flares, tried to like it. Nope. I am somewhat of a Toyota fan boy too. Wheeling it pales in comparison to the Wrangler platform. It's just not as capable as a Jeep for the wheeling I do. Plus everything about it and I mean EVERYTHING is outdated. I picked up a 2021 JLUR 2.0T and was astounded at how much more power, more smooth, more updated it was. I'm now lifted 2.5" running 35" MT tires and STILL rides better, and is faster than that 4Runner. If you really want a 4Runner, wait and see what the next gen looks like. Still, once I got in the JLUR, I knew my time with Toyota was over.

I took a look at Toyota 4runner and 7000 dollar "market adjusted" above MSRP, 10k for Sequoia. That is just gouging to me have not seen it yet with Jeep. May be a bit off topic but was wondering if anyone was seeing this at Jeep dealers? I think it is more "market gouging" myself. The jeep dealers here have stuck to the MSRP, will not be getting a deal but least not adding 7000.

Might get worse before it gets better. My Jeep dealer has exactly zero new Wranglers and zero Gladiators to sell so the rules of supply and demand likely apply. My Ford dealer was at $3000 over sticker on in stock trucks when I ordered in early July. Friend of mine reported they now have one at $9000 over. My truck build will take at least 16 weeks. Toyota is facing big delays as well so the mark ups do not surprise me anywhere anymore.

I have a Willys and love it.. If I were doing it over again, knowing what I know now, I’d have a Rubicon and would love that.

I can’t speak to the 4R.
I agree on all counts. If I were doing it all over again, I would have started by custom ordering a Rubicon. It's not worth selling the Willys and starting over though.

I traded this for my JLR.

Jeep Wrangler JL Willys vs Rubicon vs 4 runner KOgO1So

The Jeep rides better, handles better, accelerates better, brakes better and gets better mileage. The only advantage the 4Runner had was rear passenger and cargo space.

The rear window rolling down would be great with SOT! By the way you could get a V8 4RUNNER in the next generation after my 05’s generation in a Lexus 4RUNNER,after that I don’t know
