So thanks for the responses everyone. Came home to my new lights waiting for me. As I peruse the install videos on YouTube, I see The reviews are mixed . Before I bother installing these , will they be problem free if I just follow the install directions to the T? (Yes, I got the harness). I don’t really have the time to install and take off 6 konths from now . Was thinking a little silicon might be in order to prevent water getting in.

It’s pretty straightforward for the install, the hardest part is removing and installing the bumper. I put mine in a year and a half ago and haven’t regretted it. Mine were a little tight to go in so that may be an obstacle for you. I did mine by myself on a Friday night in my driveway with a six-pack, only took about an hour or two. Also, silicone might not be a bad idea as I have condensation in mine but I’m too lazy to do anything about it 🥴

Does anyone know what modifications are needed for the oem steel bumper. Their websight is reporting modifications needed for oem steel bumper.
My Oracle lights required some filing on one side in order to make them fit into the recess on the OEM steel bumper. One of them was about a 1/16" off, probably because of the metal stamping, or excess powder coating in the recess. But I got them in there and they help a lot! There are also some other cheaper brands on Amazon, but I'm sure the Oracle lights are the best.

I solved that issue with @Diode Dynamics help 🙂

@WyrPldn how is that light working out? I've had one on the shelf for 2 years. Wife's rig got totaled and I hadn't had a chance to put it on yet. tried to look it up recently and see it's no longer available. Sent DD a message to make sure nothing was amiss with that setup and they assured me there wasn't. Said they were just coming out with a new rear setup that would utilize their new line of light bars.

I sometimes like the latest and greatest so I might wait until the new one comes out so I can compare them. Sure does look clean on your rig, which is the main reason I went that route to begin with.

I hope your new lights are working well. Don’t be like me and order multiple solutions at once out of frustration… or you’ll end up being able to light up a whole stadium:

@Compression-Ignition Howdy! It’s worked out great for me. I had originally got the DD hitch receiver back up light (which I still have and use) and it works great in most use cases.

Where the light bar shines for me (I have it wired to Aux 4) is when I’m in an unfamiliar area/neighborhood or on a trail towards nightfall. In neighborhoods it helps me see joggers/dog walkers (and them me!) SO much better than any reverse lights. The light bar puts out a nice flood area and is nice and bright without being blinding if that makes sense. The shape of the bar is tear-shaped/tapered and I get no wind noise.

All that said, I would look at the updated/upgraded version as newer is often (not always!) better and then decide.

Hope this

If you are going with the Oracle lights do yourself a favor and order the extra harness. It is 1000 times better than using the crappy wire taps. Absolutely worth the extra $31.95.

I'm still shocked they don't sell a kit (harness and lights together).
