I'd say it's more like getting a good price on a Steak-um vs a great price on a sliced sirloin hoagie, but maybe you really just feel like a Steak-um today?

Another option is buy the 4xe, then sell it when your 2 door finally comes in. You might even make out on the deal.
Buying the 4xe and then trading it in for the 2 door when it finally comes in was something I just thought of also! According to what I can find, I should be able to get close to $50k for the 4xe. that would be considerably more than I paid for it, so might be a win-win!

I'd go for the 4xe Rubicon. The JLU is such a usable vehicle. Also, with the current recall on the manuals, who knows when you'll actually be able to take delivery of yours. I'm @ 12 months on safety recall without a fix for my diesel (stop-sale on new diesels since spring). Maybe trade when your order is released, but you'll get a sweet Jeep to drive for now. Decide what the 2-door and manual are really worth to you.

Also, if you have shorter drives, you can get away with almost all electric driving. Electricity is relatively cheap in Iowa, land is flat, and you might be surprised at how infrequently you have to fuel up!

I'd caution against planning on selling for a profit though. Consider the payments between as a short-term lease or paying depreciation. Also, you'll be into it the cost of the PDR.

Either way you can't lose. You can't compare this a s**t sandwich. Maybe it's not what you originally wanted so list the pros and cons. When are you expecting to get your manual Jeep? It's hard to believe that it is still an issue.
Could you resell it for what you paid? Could you trade it in for a Jeep you really want whenever they become available? Is it a upgrade over what you originally wanted? There are a lot of pluses with a Rubicon especially when it comes time to sell it IMO.
Maybe you will like a 4 door more? Run it until your 2 door comes in?
This should not be a battle of 2 dr vs 4 dr, it's like the usual anything other than my favorite color is junk. Buy what you think is going to work best for you, pros and cons

Your hood is aluminum. The 392 & Mojave have steel hoods along with export Wranglers. If you have a fiberglass hood, then it is an aftemarket hood.
lol, was just going to say the hoods on most are aluminum and others steel.....hence all the galvanic corrosion issues they have had. I feel like this place is turning into facebook with all the terrible info people pass around.

The real question is, have you driven the 4xe? Give yourself an opportunity to compare. I know that once I did, all prior thoughts of diesel were cleared from my mind.

I have a White 2024 2D Willys MT on order. I got a great deal from Granger motors (6% under invoice) - but who know when I will actually get it??
A different local dealer has a Sarge Green 2023 JLU Rubicon 4xe in stock that has hail damage. I have seen the pictures. The soft top was not damaged, and there are 4-5 hail dents on the hood. The widow sticker is $65,960, and the dealer has it discounted to $48,995. Less the $3,750 tax rebate, the end price would be $45,245. Just about $3,000 more than the 2024 2D Willys MT I have on order.
Either vehicle will be a weekend fun toy. I already have a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland as my daily driver.
I REALLY like the look of the Willys I have on order, but I am finding myself having a hard time passing up the 4xe at such a good price (or IS it a good price??).
I already have a level 2 charger in my garage for my wife's PHEV, so that is a plus.
Thoughts? What would YOU do in this situation??
Go for the damaged JLU Rubicon you'll probably end up putting an aftermarket hood anyway and it's a steal!

2024 Willys has a rear locker correct?

I would go with the one with the rear locker personally.
The other ones a Rubicon so it has front AND rear lockers. Plus sway bar disconnect. I'd go for the 4xe. Try talking them down another couple thousand because "your brand new jeep is already damaged". The 1st scratch on the trails will hurt a lot less with the hail damage.

No JL has ever come from the factory with a fiberglass hood. Are you looking at the hood liner and thinking the good is made of the same material?
Do you have a flat hood or a vented hood? Maybe the vented hood is fiberglass.

No JL Wrangler coming straight out of the factory has ever been shipped with a fiberglass hood, ever.
Careful what you say. Mopar has always put oddball stuff out there through the years. Ever heard of a 1 of 1? Maybe they are secretly testing something.

I'll buy the breakfast tacos if you can find me a VIN from a JL Wrangler that is factory optioned with a fiberglass hood. ;)
