I had the Rove2 for a couple of years. Was a good dash cam, then I wanted a newer one. Found this one, so far no complaints. Mounts up out of the way, no screen to worry about, has internal SD card; (download times are not that bad). The smart features are pretty good, video playback with added details are fun to watch.

I've had the Thinkware U1000 (front & rear) since January 2022 and it's never had any issues. I previously had the Thinkware Q800, and just wanted an excuse to get the U1000 when it came out, so I moved the old one to my wife's 4runner. Each vehicle has the iVolt battery, so as soon as it's turned off, the cameras go into parking mode with motion recording for days if needed. I live in San Antonio and the camera bakes in the sun all day while I'm at work, and I've never had an overheating or recording problem. I bought the Q800 in June of 2019 and have yet to have an issue. Not the cheapest dash cams out there, but the quality is worth it to me!

This probably doesn't matter to anyone in FL, but, if you want to do a roadtrip, I have not found a single dash cam that has a storage temperature lower than -20C (-4F). For me, this means I must remove it from my car whenever I park in winter. Thinkware, Viofo, Garmin, Blackvue, &c. all have the same lower limit for storage.

Luckily I am not going anywhere that cold lol. I’d probably be single if I told the wife she’s about to me a popsicle lol

So, using the static sticker worked perfectly fine.

I have the Viofo A129 pro duo in all of my vehicles and really like it. You can up its bitrate to minimize compression lossiness. The app and other features suck and aren't worth using - plus it has no auto-upload capability, but the quality of the video is definitely worth it.
I went with the A119 Mini 2 since it had the new sensor in it. I think the A139 was the only other one to use it. Since I got this one on sell for like 90 bucks I figures it was a good deal. The only issue I have is sometimes while I am stopped or riding down the road youll it it randomly state recording started. It caught me off guard since I was under the impression it was already recording lol. Ill have to look into this if it continues.

Ill be hard wiring it in this weekend. Did you hard wire yours? If so, any tips on running the kit (how to)? Thanks

My brother got me a Rove2 with 4K recording. I think its great. To me the most important thing, second only to the actual recording quality, is access. With the Rove2, I can easily access any recording using the cameras wifi and app. And the app is good, friendly, and actually works. I keep an sd card in it which loop records. No need to take out the sd card and then get on a computer.
Has all the goodies too, speed, collision sensor, sentinel mode, the works.

I did hard-wire mine. If you have the aux switches, it is super easy. Use a multimeter if you have one to verify the wiring - the aux 3 wire and the ignition accessory wire are very difficult to differentiate. (https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...cable-color-code-wiring-identification.13026/ to see the wiring colors etc) Also, I found interior aux wiring buried behind the flooring carpet on the side of the passenger wheel well.

Also, put your windshield down. It makes routing the wiring a LOT easier...

I was trying to avoid wiring it into the aux switches. I already have the bumper and A-pillar off road lights wired into the two smaller ones. Any where else I could wire it into?

The Aux switch bundle also has a permanent and ignition power lead, the two of which is what you want for the hardwire kit. They are not switch activated, just in the same bundle. Using those two just is a lot easier than wiring it into another lead.

I guess I am misunderstanding something? Are you saying there is a different place than under the hood to tap into them? I glanced under the glovebox and dont see any extra wires there.

Yeah, if you have the Aux switches, there is a bundle in the engine bay and a bundle under/behind the glove box. In each of those bundles there are six wires, one for each switch, one which has power when ignition is on, and one which has power all the time.

If you have them but can't find the bundle, look behind the carpet on both sides of the passenger footwell - many (including myself) have found the bundle stuffed in random places. It will be cloth wrapped and mine had tape covering the end from when they pulled it. I'll go get a quick picture of what it looks like.

If you don't have the aux switches then there are some other options in that area too, which I would have to dig around to find the suggestions.
