Just something to consider when you're looking, for somewhere like Florida a dash cam with capacitors instead of internal battery will do better in the heat and you won't have to worry about any sort of swelling or potential battery venting due to heat. I don't know what any of the ones mentioned in this thread use, but just something to keep an eye out for when you're looking.

I have used an app on my phone called Dash Cam Travel that I have used off and on. Since I have a 67 Designs mount the phone stays right above the dash. I have one of the garmin ones but right now it is just way too hot to try and install it.

Double sided tape will hold to the tint at least as well as a suction cup will.
Right but upon removal it may cause issues with the tint.

I have a Pro Clip to hold my cell. It doesnt sit high enough above the dash.

Probably. Buy

Gotcha. I'm not sure about the model you're looking at, but I have the T130 3 channel and it has a mount that attaches to the windshield that the camera can be removed from when needed.

I stumbled across this video accidentally when I was looking at something else the author was reviewing. While I wasn't surprised totally it did make me hold off on spending big $$ on a particular Dashcam.

Yeah I was just about to post the same thing. I don't know why manufacturer's just don't use a better lens to differentiate instead of everyone using the exact same thing

I keep looking around trying to figure out which dash cam I should get. I was leaning toward the Rove2 but then a lot of the bad reviews I found complained about heat issues. Living in FL, I guess that would be an issue for me also. Any recommendations on a good cam that can handle the heat here? Thanks
I've been looking for a dash cam too. I think our AZ heat may even have FL beat! I was planning to remove it when we're not using the Jeep and I'd really like to get one that is rechargeable so I wouldn't have wires to deal with. I've got enough to do watching out for the coax from the ham antenna when I get in and out! Anybody know a rechargeable cordless one?

Yeah, I have watched that entire video. I think the A119 mini wasnt too bad since it could be had for like $119. It also has the new Sony Starvis 2 lens. I was glad I watched that video cause it made me realize I did not need to spend 300+ to get a decent cam.

I may just purchase the A119 mini 2 anyway and see if the static clean sticker thing works on the window tint. I tried to Google it but couldnt really find the info I was looking at. I only found one video that alluded to the guys window was tinted and it would work. I figure if it works, great. If not I can send it back to Amazon.

I am not sure about rechargeable ones but someone did point out, batteries in these are bad due to the heat. But I think a lot of these have wires you can route to your engine compartment for a permanent connection.

Guess I’ll have to look for something else then. I’d assume that a suction cup would stick to the tint no issue. Finding a decent cam is a pain lol.
Try not to use a suction cup on tint. It’ll lift your tint. Ask me how I know.

Never thought about that one. Lets hope the static sticker works. If not, maybe I can affix it to the trim around the rear-view camera.

I use a Garmin 67W and a 57. Both work fine they're simple and they do their job. I had tried the rove4k and one other brand that started with a k.

The rove 4K was not actually 4K It was downsized it also would never connect to my phone and the one time I did get it to connect it never would happen again.

The one with the k name I had lots of trouble with it just actually recording. I even put an SD card in it as it wanted and nothing would seem to make it reliably record It would just randomly stop for no reason.

Since getting the garments easy simple and does what it needs to be.

I have the rove R2 and a vantrue n4. Heat isn't an issue with either and I'm in AZ where it has been in the 110s a lot this year. The rove has an internal capacitor or whatever that gives you up to a minute of video without being hardwired (I guess for if somebody smacks your vehicle on a parking lot when its off)

My only issue with the rove is occasionally it tells me the sd card is not fast enough, even though I bought the fastest kind. I have to turn the camera off and on again and it is fine. Could be an issue with my sd card though.

But i like the rove can connect to my phone for viewing and downloading, whereas the vantrue i have, you have to remove the card .
