I have not had a Wrangler since 1995. I tell you, I am a little concerned about the bunch I am joining here in 2017. I hear whining about steering wheel stitching pattern and window lines from glass to soft top. Will this group be the new version of “BMW douche” in a few years?
I can see part of the complaints. Wrangler has increased in price over the years especially tiers above the sport. While some are being very nitpicky when I seen someone point out the stitching I kind of agreed. I thought it was overdone trying hard to be trendy plus it's white...why the fuck would you put white stitching on a steering wheel in a vehicle that can get so incredibly dusty or dirty inside. It's going to look disgusting after one off road excursion and never come clean again.

Thought it. Glad I am not the one to have said it. Hope you don't get too much of a backlash for that
Hey as past BMW owner and long time member of Bimmerpost.com I can say it with confidence :P

It is what it is. It just that the Wrangler now appeals to more then the old skool hard core Jeep crowd now and thats a good thing as it helps keep the brand alive.

I know. Double edged sword there. Just sad that there are too many people not self confident enough to admit it and be ok with it.

Remember, with so many people modding their JK it helps lower the price of those mods for everyone.
Also, if everyone who owns a JK went wheeling going off road wouldn’t be fun, it would be a traffic jam with a view. Same will be true for the new JL.

So when is the Turbo 2.0 coming out again? I'm dying to know how this BSG is going to work so I can decide if I need to get a 2018 or 2019 Pentastar.

I can favorably agree with you as a present Porsche owner and a PCA, Porsche Club of America, member.

As long as Jeep never insults us with a "Panamera" mutant Wrangler with another row of seats I'm good.

I was actually disgusted when Jeep introduced the 4 door Wrangler; now it outsells the 2 door. Many people felt the same way when Porsche introduced the Cayenne; severely diluting the sporting marque. As currently as 2013 Cayenne’s outsell all other Porsche models combined.

Sorry to highjack this particular post; let’s get back to the original topic, modifying it slightly, to ask what engine we HOPE to buy in our JL/JLU.

I still want the diesel, but I want to test drive the Pentastar with the manual assuming the rumor it's a Tremec is true. I'm still plenty happy with the Pentastar in my JK and the WA850 is a decent (albeit dated) automatic, but as I've stated ad nauseam, I was never fond of the NSG370.

If the stick is as good as I'm hoping and it ain't available for the diesel, I may go for the V6. I miss driving a stick, but I don't miss the stick in the JK.

I'm probably not going to consider buying a JL unless I can get a manual transmission and turbo engine of some sort. We'll probably have more concrete details on the diesel in 6 months. I suppose it is a possibility that for a mid-cycle refresh in a few years they may only offer the Hurricane and do away with the Pentastar and give the Hurricane a manual option then.
