Your probably dealing with guys that owned Jeeps before with the previous engine which is even worst. As someone who has owned a large verity of brands ( Jeep, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, BMW, Mini, Mistubishi, Lexus and Nissan) I can tell you the Pentastar is nothing great. It gets the job done but leaves a ton to be desired. I'm not going to get into my long list of complaints on here, as I have listed them out in other threads. But I can tell you right now if the Pentastar was the only option on the JLU & JT I would not be buying another Jeep.Funny, EVERY Jeeper I have EVER encountered with this engine, with whom Ive spoken, LOVES and raves about this engine. That's dozens of owners and friends, from Moab to the East Coast, and all in between, in Jeep clubs, and at Jeep rallys. Not 1 negative comment. Heavily modded Jeeps included. I've come across two with about 300,000 miles, both said they were trouble free. I've heard more complaints about the venerable Chevy 350 than this engine.
Rant on and exercise your prerogative to choose a different powerplant. I've already ordered mine, and await it with great anticipation. Fortunately, they will offer an unproven 2.0 turbo that you can enjoy.
