Why is that odd?

Stellantis/Jeep produce the 850RE transmission in Kokomo, Indiana
It just seems like engines and transmission are usually built outside of the US. It makes sense to have them built in the U. S. to save on shipping costs. The transmission from my 2022 Sahara was built in Japan, according to my window sticker. (6 speed manual). And the 3.6L engine was built in Mexico.

Well, that's all subjective.....lol. I was very torn when I bought my Miata. I'll admit that I did like the look of the 124 better. I had been looking at a 124 Abarth. In the end, I fell in love with the Miata engine. In 2019, they reworked the engine, bumping the HP to 181 and the redline up to 7500. Rowing her through the gears all the way up to redline was amazing. The power delivery was so smooth and linear. They're both great cars though. It's a shame the 124 just didn't sell and was discontinued. Fiat/Alfa Romeo just don't seem to sell here. I don't think there's a better driving experience for the money with one of these vehicles. Part of the reason for my Wrangler order is because I miss the open air driving of my Miata and I don't think the wife will ride in another Miata as we came close to death in one. They're pretty scary on the highway with all the big trucks out there. Damn...I miss that car though. Enjoy that 124!

I was a buyer for an Italian auto parts distributor from the '90's up until a few years ago. Our Alfa Romeo and Ferrari parts shipped from a Fiat Allis (tractor)warehouse for a few years.
I had no problem buying a Jeep with the 2.0 engine, even when I bought a Magnetti Marelli oil filter for the first oil change.

I remember years ago I read a article about how the clutch plate from a 80's-era Lamborghini was the same as a tractor part.

It would be interesting to see how many Fiat, Alfa, Ferrari parts are the same but with different part numbers. I bet there is a difference in cost even if the parts were the same.

One of nicest Miatas I've seen. :like: I wouldn't refuse one for my own garage, but for the fact that they weren't designed with tall folks in mind.

Yes, the 8 speed auto is a ZF design and built in the US under license. The diesels get a German built unit for some reason.

Since 2016 Ferrari has been it's own company, purposely separated in anticipation of the sale of FCA.

It was pretty sweet. The Soul Red Crystal metallic paint was amazing. I'm 6'1" and had plenty of room. Anyone over 6'3" and you might be tight.

It had the appearance package with the Brembo brakes, BBS wheels and Recaro sports seats. It protected us pretty well against a massive construction dump truck that turned into my lane, sent us into a spin, and then crashed into us and pushed us down the highway, sideways, for about 100 yards.

Glad to read that you and the Missus are still around. 👍
Hopefully the insurance company did the right thing for you both.

With the market the way it is, they paid me what I paid for it two years earlier. Couldn't even replace it as there aren't any on the lots.
