UPDATE - for those following, I have a brand new 2024 JL 3.6, which had check engine light flashing with a rough idle. Dealer says it’s a malfunctioning O2 censor. Says the malfunction was causing the engine to think it was too rich and instead ran lean which caused the misfire. They said even though it was a misfire no engine damage occurred. The issue now is that the sensor is on back order.

Let it sit there for the 30 days then force a buyback. This really isn't your problem unless you special ordered it and it's a hard to find trim.

Doubt it's an direct o2 sensor issue anyway. Possible oil leaking onto the sensor which I figured they would've mentioned.

Without looking, I'm pretty sure you can get the sensor on Rockauto. Obviously won't be free like at the dealer, but peace of mind is priceless. I would DIY this one.

It sadly is a factory order which makes it more frustrating. I’m not sure what the buy back options I have as I’m in Canada.

In Canada, there are no definitive lemon laws in place either federally or provincially.

Ah, fuck. Sorry.

Backordered? I'd assume (maybe incorrectly) the o2 sensors would be common across the 3.6 platform. An engine that's been in production for a dozen years and used in many Stellantis platforms. I would assume they are a commonly replaced item based on engine volume.

Thanks for this. Why would my dealer say it’s on back order ?
Because they order from the factory, have to prove its a warranty and the factory doesn’t make any $$. Happens all the time with all manufacturers. Resellers pay cash.

It's possible the dealer just didn't look at the correct part number. Sometimes parts supersede and the parts clerk misses it.

How Is a special order different when it comes to warranty items?
