For 2.0L yes, on idle it is less than 20 psi but as you step on gas, it climbs up into 50s even at 2000-2500 rpms. unlike the 3.6l which would be at 29-30 psi below 3000rpm and goes up to 70s over 3000 rpms.

yes. these transmissions don't warm up quickly (even when not in ambient temps around freezing), and really only warm up when being driven.

this is one reason i don't bother with much of a standing warmup, and i don't romp on things until the trans temp is up to ~100ºF.

Is this transmssion temperature normal in these temperatures? This was after about a 15 remote start & 11 minutes of driving. Thank you.

What about when towing around 2000lbs?

Did you ever get an answer to this? I will be towing around 3500 lbs with the 3.6e torque and 8 speed automatic wondering where my trans temp should be.

how much you're towing doesn't matter; target temps should still be the same as already mentioned.

if you're seeing higher, slow down. if that's a problem you have routinely, you might need to consider doing something about auxiliary cooling.

Only issue I've noticed, which is normal according to the engineers is the newfangled Electronic Transmission will not shift properly until it gets up to at least 125F.

Newfangled? I'm pretty sure electronic transmissions have been around since the '80s.

I’m actually looking for an answer that has a temperature attached to it. My whole life I’ve been told an automatic transmission should stay below 200 degrees and if it goes very change the fluid immediately AND if it breaks 220 you’re probably going to rebuild your transmission.
that said I’m running at 188 ish without towing, yesterday i towed an empty trailer weighing about 2800 pounds and the temp hung at 198-201 and i got nervous
A little research and i can’t seem to lock down a “normal” operating temperature and/or a maximum temperature.

Anyone have an answer to that question?

200 is pretty normal in fact the fan does turn on till like 245 for the transmission.

I get 199-203 raving around town all the time. One thing to consider is like I said a new fan controller

This will help keep overall temps down. This is needed because the radiator fan doesn't come on till 225 from stock. Plenty of threads on this controller here

you can relax.
information we've heard our whole lives may be outdated as technologies progress.

talking to transmission guys, what i hear now is that "minimum ideal operating temp is ~190ºF".
these things routinely run in the low 200s, and 220 is not unusual.

That's not been my experience with the 850RE in my JLU.

Granted, I have to weave my way out of a development, and then a small town, to get to the main 55 MPH road that I use. I'm therefore easy on the right pedal after cold starts as a matter of necessity. Said differently, I'm not getting into the higher gears until there's space and speed limits sufficient to do so.

That said, I've not observed any wonky shifting that would suggest improper operation. This is true no matter the outside temperature, doubly so since the transmission warms up much more slowly than does the oil or the coolant. Monitoring the individual temperature gauges makes that difference easy to observe.

If you perceive the automatic transmission in your Jeep to be out of sorts, the first thing you might consider doing is confirming the correct fluid level.
