Anyone have any thoughts based on the current information available on if the 3500lb towing capacity on JKU will be increased on the JLU?

Is the thought that the JT and JL will have same towing capacity? I know they are being built on the same platform but didn't know how drastically towing capacities could differ when built on the same platform.

Actually the thread JTman wanted to point you to is this one;

http://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/tow-capacity-for-jeep-wrangler-pickup-truck-jt.759/

Both are likely to be above the JK, with the JLU likely somewhere in the 4-5,000 range (my guess closer to the middle) with a base rating near the existing base 2,500 maybe bumped to just above 3K lbs ; and the JT likely between 5,500 and 7,500lbs (my guess would be two options with a gasoline closer to 6,000 and the diesel in the 7,000 range, or it may be more based on economy vs towing axle ratios [I just assume the petrol model will get short changed vs the diesel like they always do which is the reasoning behind that]).

Really, the JLU should be no less than 5,000 lb. The JT should be 7,000.

In reality, I'll bet the JLU will be 3,500 and the JT will be 5k. The limit isn't the engine, but rather cooling and drive trane.
