Thanks. I haven’t seen that anywhere actually. So, with the proper gear ratio they’re rated at 3500 lbs but not with say 3.55s I guess. Where did you see that? Here’s the stickler. Automatics weren’t offered with 3.73 or 4.11 gears were they?

OK .... This is very valuable information. Since we haven’t found a 2018 LJ to buy yet we can try to narrow things down a bit. Chances of finding the right combination is going to be difficult. I’d prefer a 4.10 but I could change gears when I buy it.
Thanks a lot.

Some random towing things to think about. The listed frontal area is 25 sq'. That means if your camper is only 6' wide it can be a little over 4' high. Also the Jeep hitch is a Class 2. You shouldn't use a WDH on a Class 2 receiver. It's almost impossible to pull out of a violent trailer sway situation with a short wheelbase vehicle. Think death wobble on steroids. Due to trailer design, your Jeep will handle a heavy boat trailer better than a same weight camper trailer.

Agreed as frontal area is often overlooked. Also worth noting JL towing ability was further reduced with 2-door’s frontal area down 25% to only 20 sq-ft and 4-door down slightly to 30 sq-ft (from JK’s 32 sq-ft)

Thanks for your input but ... I’ve personally never seen a Class 2 hitch on a Wrangler. I’m sure there out there but every one I’ve seen is a Class 3..
In the past I’ve always used a load equalizer hitch with sway control. Never had a problem with a ‘91 YJ and a 3000lb travel trailer. On the one I’m thinking of getting I’m going to use a Hensley hitch. They’re the best in the industry I think.

Thanks for info here guys. I just purchased a new 4 door JL Sahara with 'Trailer-Tow and Heavy Duty Electrical Group' This is will be the heaviest thing I plan to tow with it. 1850lb trailer with two 900lb toys, so just over the line a hair. I am in the Black Hills near Mt Rushmore, we have some grades, most 6%. Not sure what final drive I have (guessing the 3:73), I'm not expecting it to pull like the old Tahoe did (but it should if you look at the numbers). My concern is is the braking, specifically while coming down some of those grades. The trailer has brakes on both axles. Despite having read otherwise by online posters I expect the 7 pin connector WILL operate those brakes (if not, why have it?). Looking around for a brake actuator that fits the Wrangler well, would love suggestions. A tad off subject, I towed a 17' skiff from NJ to the Keys and back, no brakes, plain YJ (new but plain) and I feel it was stupid and I was lucky to never need to panic stop the damn thing!
Anybody that has seen a clean setup fo the JL, please let me know.
Thanks, Mike
