Do you have the steel one or the aluminum one? The aluminum one I think is a lot taller and might need to be removed to open the door. You will find there is a difference in the bumper on the JL from your JKU. The space (or indentation) for the spare is flat on the bottom, where your JK is...

It happens to be I am trying to trade my '21 with 2100 miles on it... Problem is, I want another Tahoe (I've had 4) or a Wagoneer.. None around! But to answer your question, probably not. I was offered what I paid for my 17 JK when I bought the 21, my reply was no thanks, part of the family now.
