Nevermind on the threading the strap, I thought about it for a couple more seconds. I guess my sunshade would make it hard to use the strap anyway. I guess I would need hooks that go up front like some others Ive seen.
I would think that you could connect the one side to the racor, the slide it between the shade and the top, pull it forward so you could grab it in the freedom panel opening, then slide it out the other side. I don't think it'd be bad. As far as total weight, I think it's about 130 pounds or so. They said the JKU was 100 or so for the top, and another 40 or so for the freedom panels. JLU was supposed to be about 20% lighter, but if you engineer to about 150 pounds, you should be golden regardless.

Thanks for the reply. Tired of not getting my top of unless my brother or someone is around to help. Plus then I set it on the ground on a blanket where its almost impossible to keep my 1.5 & 3 year old boys off of it.

Exact same issue. Except it’s the wife. She said she would literally donate any amount to never have to help again.

Ooooo- I have a project this weekend! I’ll let everyone know how this goes. First impressions? MUCH better choice. Solid metal, nice finish, certainly an upgrade.

I’ll post pics with install and results soon...

Does anyone have any ideas on how to install a racor with this beam right in the middle of my ceiling? I have my “old” hoist from my last Jeep mounted to the ceiling and it flat out doesn’t work. Main reason being that I have new wheels and 12.5x35" tires on and the spare sticks out so much further that it is hard to get far enough back in the garage for the old placement to work. Rather than move the 2x4s on the ceiling, I'd rather put my new Topsy brackets to work with a racor lift...just cant figure out how to make it work.

I was told earlier this week that those cam gears would be on the site around the end of the week. Since it's still 110 degrees in AZ, I held off on ordering the red brackets and was going to just do one order when those went up. But now it looks like I missed the red brackets :(
If you want red, order the black and ship to my house - and I will ship you my red brackets that came in today. I'd split shipping to you on the red ones...

Dang yeah, it says sold out. I emailed them. Will see what they say. They have responded quickly so far
That’s good to hear, I filled out their website form a long time ago and never heard back. Did you use the form on their webpage or some other method?

Website form. I emailed yesterday about not being able to order and haven’t heard back. It’s the 1st time they haven’t emailed back within a day
