Realistically, the cops don't care if it's not the 33%, it's hot & they understand. Just have to be smart if pulled over, roll down the windows & hands on the steering wheel with interior lights on if it's at night.
Windshields are ok if it's a brow.
Yep, I agree with you. Since you are in Arizona, then I am sure that you have heard of Sherriff Joe. His Chief of Custody Mike, was our neighbor up on the Rim. We had Cabins side by side. We discussed it, but never talked about windshields, or even considered it. At that time, my concern was that we traveled every Summer to Calif. We also stayed there for a period of time. They will definitely ticket one, if they can't see one in the front seat with the window up. I am really glad that I don't travel to Calif anymore.

Be sure to double check your state's laws on it. Here in MI for example, tinting is illegal without a medical exemption. Even with the exemption, completely tinting the front window is still not allowed.

That said, nobody gets pulled over because of side window tints, they just add it on the citation if you do get a ticket. And if you're in a state that allows it, then no issues whatsoever. I like tints on the side, but never been a fan of the windshield tint from a driving perspective. Just seems a bit dangerous for nighttime driving.

I'll be tinting my side windows soon, just haven't had the chance yet. :)
I was pulled over for window tint by a state trooper who was going the opposite way on US-31 bypass. He pulled a U-Turn and came after me, apparently it was a slow day. I received a fix-it ticket and once I removed the tint, I had to get an officer to sign off on it. After that I put darker tint on as I was moving out of state in a few weeks anyway.

At the time I was pulled over MI had some stupid law regarding the front side windows could only be tinted 4" from the top of the window, absolutely stupid.

BTW, "tints" is not a word. :like:

So Im thinking about tinting my windows on my 2 door ruby. Whats the community thoughts on this mod? Do I also tint my front t windshield?.....
100% on the TINT
Be careful on front windshield, some states it's illegal
Typically 20/25% is usual Tint

I run roofless in the summer. No on tinted windows for me. Then again, I undercoated my JL for the winter and it never left the garage. I’m probably the wrong guy to answer ?

Been calling around today for tint on the new Rubi 4 door. Just haven’t had time to do this mod.

Nevada law (today) says must allow more than 35% light transmission on front doors. Back door window and rear can be any darkness.

Average price for 3M ceramic $400. Add additional $40-70 for the front brow or above AS-1 line and must be non reflective. Price difference is between multiple installers price quote.

Add about $40 to remove OEM tint from front door windows. The rear doors and tailgate window has tinted glass but the front looks and feels like there is tint film. The markings around glass edge is different between from rear doors and tailgate compared to the front doors.

If it’s to keep the heat out like here in Dubai absolutely! We run 75% tinting on top of the factory tinting. It might seem excessive but wait till you drive around/ park in 120-130F. It makes a huge difference in temperature in the car.

If it’s just for looks I wouldn’t go over 20-25% on top of the factory tint. For the front window an absolute no no. Besides it’s illegal here in Dubai (unless you’re local then 100% tinting is fine) and also Europe. The reason they give is that other road users have to be able to see inside and see your intentions when driving. (Don’t shoot the messenger it’s just the European law ?)

I tinted the door windows on my 2 door JK. I liked the look, but at night it was had to see through the windows for two reasons. 1.) The film blocked too much light and 2.) the film reflected all of the interior light at night making it hard to focus through the glass. I ended up removing the film. So on my new JL, I have chosen not to tint. Also, it give the cops a reason to pull you over.

Alabama - Yes. We are mid to high 90s this week and it’s HOT! 20% Ceramic Front and Rear. Might even consider 15% front 20% rear. Windshield is nice to have at about 50%.
I have the Gorilla Glass though and was skeptical about spending another $300 on windshield tint and ending up having to replace it. No it isn’t legal here. Back can be whatever you want front limit I’m not sure of but 20% is not legal.

On mine, i just had my fronts tinted to match my factory back windows, so far no problems. Nothing on the windshield.
i did have a GTO that was pretty dark. Got stopped a couple times for that one, but i said it was on there when i bought it and didn't know how dark it was. The one cop actually was going to measure it but couldn't find his tint gauge. I LOLed as he told me i should have it removed and to have a nice day. I guess it really does depend on the officer.

If you're concerned about being compliant with the law, no windshield tint should go below the AS-1 line on your windshield, regardless of what your state allows above that line.

What is an AS-1 Line On Your Cars Windshield | Window Tint Laws
Many states permit full windshield tinting though there may be a simple medical waiver involved. Someone who sunburns easily is a valid reason. Every state around me has this exception.

No way I’m daily driving a Wrangler without 35% or darker. Windshield will get tinted with another 20% layer added to the AS-1 line.

My understanding is that all windshields have an incidental UV barrier with the laminate membrane. But, IR (radiant heat) still comes through.
