If it was legal where I live I'd have all windows and windshield tinted as dark as possible. But here I think the front driver and passenger windows can only be 50% which is basically nothing, and unless you have a prescription you cant tint the windshield. It really helps with the heat, and personally I think vehicles look better with tint!

I tint matched the front two doors (of my two door) to my factory hardtop's tint and am very happy. I don't tint the windshield at all due to the amount of night driving I do.
Yes tint on windshield does have an impact at night with a bit of increased blurring/glare and haloish effects. Not too bad tho IMO but there is a difference.

So Im thinking about tinting my windows on my 2 door ruby. Whats the community thoughts on this mod? Do I also tint my front t windshield?.....
Where I live it’s not really an option to not have tint (Arizona), and you still suffer even with it. That being said, it really does look a lot better than clear glass, knocks down the sun (in normal states) and makes your personal possessions a little harder to spot for someone casually walking by.

...That said, I wouldn't recommend windshield tint for anyone who was inquiring about window tint in general. Tint will reduce your night vision through the window, period. If you absolutely never drive at night, it will be great. There's a reason some states make it illegal, and preventing crashes (injury) is typically the reason (poor visibility).

When one lives in AZ, then tinting windows at a legal %, is needed. But I have never seen this done on windshields, and am not sure that it is even legal.
Ah you’re missing out!!!!! Tint the windshield. Even the lowest tint at minimum and noticeable difference.

Although tinting a wrangler windshield is a gamble ?

Firm tint believer if your state allows it. I always do the darkest the state allows. Side windows a must. Windshield is personal. On it I do the lightest tint that’s made for it. Tint will always help on UV and heat. Every vehicle I’ve owned since I started driving has had tint, almost 40yrs now. I’ve tinted mainly for UV/heat reduction but I also like the cosmetic part of it.

We put 20% ceramic in front to match 50% ceramic covering the privacy glass which offered no uv protection. Huge difference here in socal.

edit: In hindsight, we would have been just as happy (maybe happier) with a step lighter all the way around. Just a tad too dark at night.

I did 25% ceramic on the sides and 90%crystalline on the front windshield. Blocks the majority of the heat and you can’t even tell the windshield is tinted. Expensive though.

Where I live It gets pretty hot in the summertime so I've decided to put 5% tints on all of my rear windows, 25% on the front ones and almost half of my windshield is tinted.... I can honestly say that it's been a game changer for me in terms of how cool and fresh it keep the car....
I hear you, those Canadian summer days must really get unbearable up there.

This is a typical parking lot in Vegas on a Summer day and it really wasn’t even a HOT Summer day (only 103F).

I did exactly the same. I figured the amount of times I will be replacing my windshield it would be a lost cause. ?

I never was into tinting until I found out how much it can insulate the sun's heat. I first had it done on my large windshield and driver/pax windows on my RV and was blown away with how much more comfortable the drive was on sunny days.

I think it's also worth paying for the better tint material, not necessarily darkness but films that block a higher percentage of UV light. Good idea to understand that before purchasing.

Now adays you don’t even have to go dark if you’re only aiming for heat reduction, top end ceramic tints do way more for heat reduction (through Infrared rejection) even at higher VLTs than old school carbon tints at lower VLTs. Personally I’ve been doing ceramic 20% all around with 70% on the windshield on all my vehicles for a long time now.

to note pretty much all automotive glass is tinted from the factory to a VLT of around 80%. 70% tints on the windshield is pretty much imperceivable.

Absolutely do it... but don't go cheap. Get ceramic with full UV protection (even have non-tinted UV ceramic available if tint isn't legal in your state.) The temp difference is huge, and you're protecting the inside seats and trim from fade.
