Well I ordered HikeIt and several days go by and I hadn't heard anything so I double checked the order and there was a tracking # associated with it. Unfortunately the tracking number didn't work so I emailed Hikeit (couldn't find a way to call them) and they replied the next day (I guess they aren't in the US) and he said he would check on it.

Fast forward 2 days and he replies say it got lost and he would refund my money. Sooooooo, almost 2 weeks of wasted time and no module. Obviously not going with a hikeit at this point. Suggestions that actually get delivered?
I ordered a Hike It X9 last November, to gift to my brother for Christmas. It arrived <2 weeks later, well-packaged and fully functional.

Shipping issues do occur. I wouldn't reflexively count a vendor out when it happens...doubly so when they research the matter and then volunteer to refund your purchase price.

My brother is happy with the X9 in his Jetta, and I've nothing but praise for the same in my JLU.

Best of luck with however you decide to proceed here.

Agreed. In the throttle enhancer market, Banks is the CLEAR leader - others are not even close. Is this an economic decision that drives buyers to inferior brands? Between the reliable OBD power source and the revert-to-stock when reversing feature, it's a no-brainer (I thought). I'm the OP for this thread and it started out supporting PedalCommander - before I did more research.

Members, if you're in the market, spend five minutes watching this:

I'lll probably try one of these out. By chance, are you using a Tazer with your setup as well?

There do seem to be real advantages to using Banks PedalMonster over competitors.
Some 392 owners using Pedal Commander reported getting error codes due to power draw from accelerator pedal circuit itself.

- PedalMonster is the ONLY throttle sensitivity controller connected via the vehicle's +12 volt OBD-II port to read vehicle data.

- This reliable power connection and vehicle information is used to provide smooth pedal response and enhanced safety features.

- Other 'Boost Commanders' draw power from the accelerator pedal circuit itself, potentially overloading the circuit and leading to a dead pedal and an inoperable engine.

- Every other throttle controller device has no clue what vehicle you are in, how fast you are going, and is unable to adapt dynamically to driving conditions.

OBD-CONNECTED SAFETY FEATURES
Jeep Wrangler JL Throttle enhancers Active_Safety
ACTIVESAFETY®
SYSTEM

In the event of a loss of power or circuit failure, our patented failsafe system seamlessly returns the pedal to stock, and you keep driving down the road. When other throttle controllers fail, they leave the pedal dead, and you’re stuck in the middle of the highway.
Jeep Wrangler JL Throttle enhancers Trans_Select
TRANSMISSION SELECTION

Selecting manual or automatic transmission type with PedalMonster’s menu alters its added sensitivity. The result is a smoother response for easier clutch engagement. Other throttle controllers do not even know you have a transmission, let alone offer alternative throttle contours.
Jeep Wrangler JL Throttle enhancers Adj_Low_Speed_Trim
LOW-SPEED TRIM

Gradually adds in throttle sensitivity under 10 MPH. User-adjustable with 5 levels of adjustment to prevent wheel spin or abrupt take-offs. Helpful when towing or on slick surfaces.
Jeep Wrangler JL Throttle enhancers Reverse_Safety
REVERSE SAFETY®
Our patented reverse safety feature returns the vehicle to stock throttle response when in reverse gear, so you don't go flying out of the garage backward or jackknife your trailer.

Added bonus- if you run with “Pedal”as full or partial screen on the I-dash the sensitivity level is instantly adjustable with the touch of an arrow should you encounter such as a low traction situation.

About $20-30 for a splitter from Banks for use with a Derringer tuner, if you want to run both a Tazer and Derringer- Dunno.

The reason I switched from Taser to Jscan is the Tazer was screwing up my SGW and throwing codes. Jscan instantly eliminated that issue.

@Rhinebeck01 helped me learn about Jscan

They didn't research anything until I bugged them about it and by no means did they volunteer a refund.

Never heard of Jscan but I've definitely had some bizarre issues with my Tazer and would love to find something to replace it with since for me it's not doing a whole lot. As far as the Derringer is concerned, what does that do for you? I tried using the JB4 and had nothing but issues when the ODBII part was connected, worked with the vendor and they couldn't figure out why so I removed it. I'm also wondering if the tazer, jb4 and throttle controller combined was causing the Jeep to act the fool. I ended up removing everything except the Tazer and damn if the Jeep isn't boring without some form of a throttle controller.

The short answer on Derringer is that it increases turbo boost, thus adding power. I'm not familar with JB4, but they are similar in objective.

I removed my taser and replaced it with JScan

How do you use the Jscan? I downloaded it to my Macbook Pro but I need an OBDII dongle. Are there written instructions for setup and use of this?

Thanks!

Here are some notes that I made to myself before installation (thanks @Rhinebeck01 for coaching me through this). Maybe they'll help you. I bought the Jscan subscription, an ECRI, and a vLinker MC+. These, collectively, eliminate the Tazer. My Tazer, because it causes the SGW to be bypassed, was messing me up with codes, and pissing off my dealer. The instructions are boneheadedly simple because, on stuff like this, I tend to be a bonehead. One big advantage over a Tazer is that the Jscan facilitates forced regens on my EcoDiesel. Actually, the Jscan does SO MANY things that it can be confusing to navigate. :)

1. Before starting, download JScan onto my iPhone
2. Play around JScan in demo mode to get a feel for it
3. Unmarry Tazer
4. Leave Z Automotive extension cable in place connected to SGW
5. Use either unmarried Tazer or ECRI device, connected to the dangling (male end) cables to bypass SGW. For now I’ll use the Tazer as my “bypass module”
6. Push starter button twice (don’t touch brake) to put vehicle into run mode
7. Plug in vLinker MC+ into OBD port
8. Put iPhone into bluetooth discovery mode and pair vLinker to iPhone.
9. Pull up JScan on my phone and connect
10.Pay for the JScan license ($20) when prompted
11.Navigate on the JScan software to set my tire size and TPMS minimum (25psi) setting
12.Restart twice
13.Physically disconnect unmarried Tazer (or ECRI) from the dangling cables
14.Plug dangling cables into Z Automotive extension cable (changes are now undiscoverable by dealer)
15.Done
16. Or…leave ECRI connected to dangling cables to facilitate roadside changes. (If so, the SGW will not be connected)

Nice thing about JScan is you can set the TPMS min pressure a lot lower than the Tazer (if I recall, as low as 15psi). Tazer only goes down to 25psi - I usually want to be 16-20psi for most offroading, so the lower threshold really reduces the annoying and unnecessary warnings
